Period 2.5 weeks after mc....is this normal?

I was told I'd probably have a period 4-6 weeks after my mc but AF came today. Has this happened to anyone else or is it pretty abnormal to have one so quickly?

I guess we are all different. Mine took about 6 weeks. If you are worried maybe ask your gp for some advice. Sorry for your loss.

Hi whiterose, sorry to hear you've had a miscarriage,
Are you counting your 2.5 weeks from the first day of bleeding or the miscarriage finishing?
With two of my miscarriages (which I managed naturally)the next AF was 5 weeks from the first day of bleeding,but the bleeding had gone on for a while so AF probably came after about 2 weeks of not bleeding.
With my early miscarriage(at 6 weeks) the bleeding lasted a week. I was charting my temp so I know I ovulated a week later(so 14 d from start of bleeding). I conceived but sadly heart stopped at 8w6d and I miscarried at 12 weeks.
MC can really mess with your cycle, after my last one I ovulated on d 23, I've no idea what will happen next cycle!
If your bleeding has restarted really soon after the miscarriage it may be worth checking with the doctor in case there are any retained products?

I'm counting from the day I had my mc. I had really heavy bleeding on the Sat and Sun but then it was much lighter on the Mon-Wed. By the Thurs, it was mainly spotting. I had medical management for my mc.

The bleeding was really heavy yesterday, like a period but hardly anything today. Is this what normally happens with retained products? Do you have to have surgery to remove the retained products? I feel a bit in the dark about what can happen after a mc?

Hi, I was told bleeding can start and stop for a few weeks after MC, but as I miscarried naturally I don't know what the situation is after a medically managed MC. Did you have a scan after your treatment or are you due any further scans? I was told when the options for management were being discussed that sometimes the MC may not be complete after medical management, in which case if there were retained products they would have needed to go on to perform an ERPC , but your bleeding could just be your uterus settling down and it could be completely normal.
I would contact your EPU again for advice.
