After-effects following post-mc D&C - usual?

I had a D&C on Tuesday following a mc (which failed to 'evacuate' naturally, hence the surgical intervention). Since the procedure I've had some bleeding and cramps (entirely expected) but last night and today I've also had nausea and feel quite shivery and pretty 'woosy' / light-headed.

Is this normal? After the procedure and for most of yesterday I felt OK, now I feel worse.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry about your MC.

I had an erpc which i think is the same thing as a d&C two weeks ago for my third MC.
they gave me an info sheet when i left. This is what it says;

"You can expect some mild bleeding for 5-7 days and some cramping.
This is normal.

If you are bleeding enough to fill a pad in 2 hours, or if the bleeding gets heavier, or continues after 7 days,
OR if normal painkillers do not manage the pain
OR if there is a discharge or offensive smell
OR if you have a temperature, ring the day surgery unit or go to a&e for advice"

Do you think the 'shivery' feeling you have might be a temperature?
I ask as I always think i'm freezing when I have the flu and fight DH who is trying to remove blankets becauase my temperature is too high, as I feel really cold.

Do you have a themometer you could use to check?

When I had an infection post D&C, it showed up about a week later (although obviously that could vary) I had a temperature, a headache and felt sore down there. Nothing smelled though.

Some of what you describe could be a reaction to the anaesthetic, but if your temperature is raised you should seek advice right away. It might be worth doing so anyway!

Thanks both, no discharge or anything painkillers aren't helping with so hoping it's just the anaesthetic's effects. I went back to work today too so think it's a case of too much too soon. Back on the sofa now and not moving!

How are you today, are you feeling any better?

Hi, hope you are feeling a bit better today? I had an ERPC a week ago yesterday and 2 nights after felt a little bit flu like and a bit light headed. I was terrified I had an infection as hosp had warned if I got a temp or felt flu like then I should call them. I went to bed that night and woke up the next morning feeling fine, so it maybe was just all the after effects of the op and anesthetic. If your worried though, give your GP or EPUB a call. Take care xx
