Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

How long will I get a positive test?

I miscarried last Thursday, saw EPU on Monday who saw nothing in there, lining of uterus thinned back to "normal" but I'm still positive on a test. It's very upsetting and I just want it over with.

How many weeks were you? I had an ERPC at 8 weeks and it took 4 weeks before my test was negative. I spent a fortune! Now my frustration is waiting for my period to arrive - grrrr.

Oh So sorry to hear that Queen. Hope you're bearing up.

I found it to be about 8 weeks before I got a negative test after I had MMC at 12 weeks. I was a hormonal mess to be honest but I rationalised it by having these positive hpt's - it meant that the preg hormones were responsible for my utter horribleness!

I've now got ds who is 15 months Smile

I had a natural mc nearly 3 weeks ago. I was 12 weeks. It only took 11 days for me to get a bfn. I'm not sure if it takes longer with a mmc or with medical intervention, or possibly my hormone levels had been falling for a while before the mc.

Sorry, forgot to say - it is horrid, no matter how 'early' it is. I had an early mc 3 years ago at 5 weeks and felt rubbish. I didn't even tell anyone about that one, not even dp, as I'd only got my bfp that morning and mc in the evening. At that time I didn't know I was supposed to get a bfn before trying again and we fell pg that cycle with dd2 who is now 2 and delightful.

so sorry for your loss. It's really rubbish isn't it? The the BFP can linger for varying lengths of time. I got a BFN 5 days after an ERPC for a mmc which is different to your situation, but I know it has taken weeks for some women. It had taken 4 cycles to get back to something like normal, though it is hard to tell because I got a BFP rather than a 4th AF. It really is best to get a BFN before you TTC again, as if you don't it might be hard to tell whether your BFP is a new pregnancy or the tail end of your last one. You can get very cheap pg test strips on line. I think in some way it's your body's way of making you wait till you are at least more physically ready to conceive.

I was almost 14 weeks when I miscarried at the beginning of January. It took about 5 weeks to get a negative reading. My endometrium (uterine lining) was measured as 8mm a few days after it happened (I think it might be on the low side). I had very full cheeks until the pregnancy hormones were out of my system and then some of the facial contours returned. My period arrived 37 days after I m/cd

I'm very sorry you're going through this.

Thank you so much everyone for sharing your stories. Today's was very light indeed and although I'm "happy" it's going I'm so so sad about it too. It was going to be my 4th child, and very wanted. Thanks again
