Spotting at 12 weeks

I started spotting 3 days ago. The spotting is intermittent in that most of the time when I wipe there is blood but sometimes there isn't. The blood is only ever on the tissue and I never soak a pad. The blood varies in colour from bright red to brown. I went to the hospital when it started, they checked my blood pressure and sent me home. I passed two small clots yesterday so went back to the hospital and again they checked my blood pressure, felt my tummy, gave me an anti D shot and sent me home. I'm still spotting now. I realise it is common but no-one is doing anything to investigate as to why I'm bleeding. What do I do? I can't just go on bleeding and I'm going out of my mind with worry. My scan is not until next week.

Where I live you need a referral from your GP to the early pregnancy unit where you get a scan done. So my advice is call your GP and get an appointment and go from there. Which department at the hospital have you been to? I hope you get the care you need x

I was sent to the out of hours gp service. They sent me to the early pregnancy assessment unit where they gave me the anti D. They told me they were fully booked for scans but surely they have to scan cases like me.

I had the same thing where they were fully booked and I had to keep my routine scan which was already booked. It's really hard. It seems wrong to keep you waiting when you are so worried.

Oh gosh that's awful that you have to wait Angry

Wold it be worth you going to A&E?

I started spotting on Thursday evening, spoke to out of hours gp who arranged an 'emergency' scan for me - this Thursday, so a full week after I spoke to them. I was told not to go in as all they would be able to do was check my blood pressure etc. The scan can't change the outcome though, all it can do is reassure you or let you know what's happening slightly earlier.

I hope everything is ok for you.

Are you still spotting now?

I'm sorry, no I'm not spotting. It didn't end well for me and I had a full miscarriage on Sunday. But my friend spotted for about 3 weeks at this stage and carried on to have a healthy pregnancy. It's not easy to tell either way. Good luck.
