I've just heard that the wife of one of my colleagues has miscarried at 8.5 months pregnant.
He's a lovely chap, but I don't know him very well at all and only bump into him every few weeks. Our DC1s were born at roughly the same time and have the same name, and both families were pregnant at the same time (I'm 6 months).
I feel so sad for them - maybe particularly because of the symmetry in our lives and because I'm a bit hormonal - and I'd like to help, or send my condolences but worry that I'm too far removed and will look like a sticky beak.
Should I send a card? I don't know what the done thing is...
