I'd like to help a grieving colleague...

I've just heard that the wife of one of my colleagues has miscarried at 8.5 months pregnant.

He's a lovely chap, but I don't know him very well at all and only bump into him every few weeks. Our DC1s were born at roughly the same time and have the same name, and both families were pregnant at the same time (I'm 6 months).

I feel so sad for them - maybe particularly because of the symmetry in our lives and because I'm a bit hormonal - and I'd like to help, or send my condolences but worry that I'm too far removed and will look like a sticky beak.

Should I send a card? I don't know what the done thing is...

I think you should go with your feelings - it shows that you care and are thinking of them at this sad time, trust me having support from people really helps you get through each day!
im sure youll do good!
Good luck with your pregnancy!
