Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Think I'm having a miscarriage (no 3)

Hello

I did a pregnancy test yesterday (period was due) and got a BFP, but have been spotting for about a week. With my last 2 miscarriages (blighted ovums) the spotting started about a week after my period was due. Do you think there is any hope? There probably isn't and 99% of me knows this won't have a good ending.

I just don't know what to do as I'm currently on holiday in Spain - not that there's anything I can to to prevent a miscarriage if it's going to happen.

I'm so fed up. Brown spotting just seems to signal miscarriage.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks
xx

No advice, but didn't want to leave without a reply.
It might not be, but I guess you'll have to wait and see what happens over the next few days - you have my sympathy, I know how it feels.
Hope you're somewhere where you can be comfortable and looked after if you are having a mc.

Sorry for what you are going through Diddy. I just thought I would answer as I am still up and don't want you to go without replies if you are sitting up stressing. I had a mc a few weeks ago and I am sure that you know by now that there's nothing that can be done anyway, doesn't make it any easier I know as it is all just awful.

BUT there are still reasons to be optimistic. Plenty of people get bleeding and everything is fine as you know.

My advice would be to try to enjoy your holiday as best as you can and find out when you get back. If you do need to see a doctor while you are away do you have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)? Or travel insurance? Might want to check it now just in case you need to use it.

Fingers crossed for you xx

Hi diddygirl sorry you are going through this, I have had all sorts of scenarios with bleeding and unfortunately yes it can lead to a mc but it could also be implantation bleeding, I had this in my last pregnancy (unfortunately I had a mc but wasn't a result of this). I spotted from the day my AF was due and it continued to about 10-11 weeks, when I had a scan at 6 weeks they could see a small clot from where it was coming from. This is very common in pregnancy so don't lose hope too soon. Try your best to relax while you are on holiday and see your GP when you get back to organise a scan at 6 weeks. Fingers crossed, will be thinking of you.

diddy so sorry this is happening to you, particularly while you're on holiday. I know nothing I can say will change the outcome. My mc (blighted ovum) also started with brown spotting but, and it's a big but, I am now almost 25 weeks pregnant and have been bleeding on and off throughout the entire pregnancy. My implantation bleed lasted about 4 days and was heavy enough for me to assume it was a period. I also bled for about 4 days at the time of ovulation on the month I fell pregnant and felt as if I bled more through the 1st trimester than I didn't.

I really hope your spotting is as a result of fluctuating hormones and/ or implantation, but am sending a hug anyway. Hopefully, if it is bad news, it won't be too physically horrific at this stage, but I know that is of little comfort right now. Everything crossed for you. Xx

Thank you for all your kind words. I'm going to try my best to not dwell on it too much as it's completely out of my hands.

I will get in touch with the gynae consultant when I get back home. I had lots of blood tests done after second m/c but as they came back normal I didn't see the point in seeing the consultant, even though I could have done. I will make sure I do this time. I've no idea of what they can do for me given that bloods came back normal. I wish they'd found something wrong so that I could have taken something to give me a fighting chance.

I get the feeling that if I got pregnant again in the future, the brown spotting would start and then the inevitable.

Thanks again and best wishes to everyone TTC/pregnant.
xx

Hello
Just thought I'd update you on my situation. While on holiday I got in touch with my EPAU and asked if they could fit me in for a scan on the day I got home. My plane landed at 12.30pm and I was at the EPAU at 4.00pm. I was so nervous. I had a scan and just couldn't believe my eyes - the sac was huge (compared to the ones during my 2 miscarriages) and she first pointed out the yolk sac. At this point I started to fill up as the previous ones had been empty. Then she said, "And here in the corner is a very tiny baby!!!" OMG I can't believe it. I had convinced myself that I was having another miscarriage. It's very early days (5 and a half weeks) and I have a water infection so have to be very cautious, but to see the little heartbeat was something else. I have been spotting for a good few weeks now and the midwife said it can be a sign of a urine infection. It's just worth thinking about if you get any spotting - don't assume it's a mc, get your urine checked.
Thanks again and best wishes to all
xx
