Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

Am worried it's a miscarriage

I had a miscarriage at 9 wks in Aug when I got a huge twinge then bled a lot.

I am now almost 12 wks pregnant-scan due on Thursday. I had a scan at 7wks that was fine.

I am worried as yesterday, I had some cramping in the evening that went away by bedtime. I had a bit this morning that went away then came back this evening. I have had some discharge with little bit of red blood in it then a little more when I am wiping. I am now really scared that this is the start of a miscarriage. I want to go to get checked out tomorrow but all a bit stressful as all our family is on holiday just now so not sure what to do with DD.

Has anyone got any advice please.

pudding, you poor thing. I wish I could say something definitive and reassuring but it can be so hard to know what is going on. I have had a mc where there were no symptoms of anything going wrong: no bleeding, no cramping before the scan showed it had gone pear-shaped. After that I had a successful pregnancy, but spent the first 20 weeks bleeding and cramping (and losing my marbles).

Do you have an EPU near you? How old is dd?

Thanks Hester. Not sure what an EPU is? DD is 3 in a few weeks. I think if I am going to go and see someone tomorrow, I may see if my best friend can come with and DD can stay with DH.

EPU = Early Pregnancy Unit. Where were you planning on going? A&E? Maternity unit?

It is absolutely horrible waiting to find out. All sympathies and I do hope things go well tomorrow. Will you let us know how you get on?

Try to get some sleep.

Yes, I am in London and signed up with UCLH which is brilliant and has an EPU which is where I had my 7 wk scan but not sure if it is open tomorrow. I will give the maternity unit a ring in the morning.
Thanks for replying. I am going to attempt to go to bed.

Oh, I'm so very sorry, Pudding. It's the most awful thing. Do keep talking if you find it helpful. I will be thinking of you.

Thank you. I had a horrible night last night with tons more bleeding and clots but the pain seems to have gone now so I am hoping that it is done with and will have a scan tomorrow to check. Feeling pretty miserable though. I have private health so going to try to get referred to a gynae to see if there is any reason for this. I don't know if I can go through this all again but I so wanted a sibling for DD.

It's just horrible, horrible. I'm really feeling for you.

You do know, don't you, that most women who have two miscarriages do go on to have a successful pregnancy? But since you have private insurance I would go and see someone. A couple of close friends of mine have been very successfully treated for repeated miscarriage - there is a lot they can do.

I hope tonight is better for you. All best to you xx

Thanks. Today has been much better. I had a scan. There is still a bit of a tissue there so I am having another scan next Wednesday and if it hasn't gone, I am having it removed surgically next Thursday as I don't want to wait any longer than next week for it to happen itself.
I have a horrible feeling that my private health won't cover any costs for investigation. We are going to the dr this Thursday to get some more information first before I approach my insurance company.

I think my concern now is, apart from having another miscarriage, that having just turned 39, maybe I am just too old for it to work out-although I seem to get pregnant at the drop of a hat so conceiving doesn't appear to be the problem.
