Hello,

I am currently 5 and a bit weeks pregnant after a MC in August 2010. I have been spotting with this pregnancy since 9DPO and I am getting bad cramps and I am now 99% sure this is going wrong. My last MC followed exactly the same pattern with spotting from before my BFP. I just don't know what to do. I never see the same doctor and no-one seems to be interested in joining up the pieces. In my mind the fact that both MC have progressed in exactly the same way coupled with pre-AF spotting every month - something is obviously wrong Sad I just want to know how I go about getting answers - I really don't want to have a third MC before anyone will help me.....

When I had my third MC i bypassed the GP as they a waste of space and presented at A&E, who then admitted me and scanned me, but the clearly there was nothing they could do that i couldnt have really done alone at home. I just needed to know for my own peace of mind.

Sorry, I'm in a bit of a state at the mo Sad I just mean I want someone to listen to what has happened with both MCs and the problems I have with spotting every month. I think they are all related to, perhaps, a hormone problem? I just feel like I'm passed from pillar to post at the moment...

Sorry if this is happening to you wakarimasen, I too suffer from the spotting every month that appears exactly 7 days before my period starts. I asked the doctor today and he said it was probably nothing to worry about, but I'm possible thinking it is hormonal too.

I'm lucky to have not had any MC's tho, that I know of. Hope things turn out ok with you.

wakari I'm so sorry. It's horribly traumatic and it is rally frustrating. I've just had my third mc and been referred for testing.

But the very nice consultant has said that they only find a cause in about 40% of women who have more than two mc.

It doesn't take the pain away to know this. It is painful to know that sometimes we will never find the answers to our questions.

Life is so unfair to some :(

Hi Hairy

I'm so sorry you have had to go through 3 miscarriages - what a horrible, horible thing to go throughSad It's hard not to wallow in misery and I'm repeatedly asking "why me" I can't look at my DH as I feel like a total and utter failure.

I had 3 MCs, they never found a cause. Then went on to have 2 DCs. Things r so random.

wakerimasen I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. My first mc happenned at 9 weeks and I found out at the 12 scan but my second mc started with spotting the same day I got a BFP and continued similarly to what you describe. After my second mc the GP did some initial tests at the surgery where they checked my hormonal levels and thyroid. Everything came back normal but this is something they may do for you if you can get a sympathetic GP. I have two DC and have now had three mc. I lost my third baby at 15 weeks but at the beginning of the pg I started spotting again the day I got a BFP this spotting was actually implantation bleeding and was seen at a 6 weeks scan, it had nothing to do with the mc. Apparently 20-30% of women will experience implantation bleeding so all hope is not lost.

I hope this helps, I know how painful it is having two and nobody wanting to help until you have had the magic three.
Take care

Thanks so much for the kind replies. I think its just human nature to be looking for an answer and the reality may be that it's just bad luck. The pains have stopped today so will have to wait and see - got a private scan booked for a week today.

Hi waka
I know how horribly worrying it is. And nothing anyone can say can take away that worry, or say with any certainty that all will be ok or indeed that all will go wrong.

But cramping and spotting at the stage you're at is very common in successful pregnancies. Mother Nature's cruel joke.

I hope your scan is positive and reassuring and that all will be well in your pregnancy. Try and relax and enjoy being pregnant for now.

take care
x

Waka it is definately human nature to want answers - I am finding it incredibly hard to come to terms that I may never get any :(

And at this time, we need to give ourselves plenty of time to feel everything we are feeling - and time to feel better.

It's a hideous thing - I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Take care of yourself.

I know I have felt like I am mad, angry, bitter, sad, and sometimes I just don't know how I feel - I feel like I am just staring into space.

But what I do know is that it does get better with time - the terrible grief does fade. It's not something I think you ever get over, but the worst grief does abate with time.
