Miscarriage/pregnancy loss

How long will I have to wait for ERPC?

I know all hospitals are going to be different but the waiting is driving me crazy. I've been bleeding since monday afternoon (its now more or less stopped), had a scan on tuesday which showed baby measured less than 6 wks even though I would now be 12+2. I know my dates are spot on.

I'm being scanned again on Tuesday and know I want to have an ERPC as soon as possible but have no idea if I'll have to wait and if so how long.

I'm driving myself mad as I'm too scared to go out anywhere in case I start to miscarry naturally and I'm on my own somewhere with ds. I've been off work this week and I'm guessing I'll probably be signed off next week as well but not knowing is just horrible.

I know no one can really give me an answer - I guess I'm just wanting to get it off my chest xxx

I know how you feel. My baby had no heartbeat at 8 weeks. I was offered an erpc. Initially I was offered a date that was 5 days away. I really didn't want to wait that long as I had been bleeding on and off from the day I found out I was pregnant. My pregnancy symptoms were really strong which made the wait worse.

I asked for a quicker appointment and was then offered a slot the following day.

Although it was a sad event I was very impressed with the service and care that I received. The op was straight forward, very little pain and a quick physical recovery.

Mentally it takes longer. Some days I feel fine but on I do still struggle on occasion.

I am sorry for your loss and the wait that you now face.

so sorry :(

FWIW my first ERPC was booked the next day after the scan. With my 2nd MMC there was a nearly 2 week waiting list, and I MC naturally in the meantime. 3rd time, I wanted to MC naturally, but couldn't let it go on indefinitely as was about to move house, so I booked a surgery slot for a week later, hoping things happened in the meantime. They didn't.

With my nat MC I had a few hours warning that things were going to happen; I remember that sense of "what if" if I went too far from home. But it would have been ok.

Sorry it seems it's been stop/start for you. Hopefully you get the resolution you want.

So sorry for your loss. I was offered one the day after the second time I saw them (they'd previously sent me home to decide if I wanted intervention.

I think if you ask them and tell them you simply can't cope with the waiting, they will be helpful.

When I had an ERPC the hospital only did a list once a week, on a Monday. So wait was 10 days, since my scan was towards the end of the week and the Monday list was already full! It depends on the hospital I know another hospital in the area (smaller than the hospital I was at) does them daily. They tend to offer next day from what I have heard since.

Hi, sorry for what you're going through.
I would've had a week's wait at my local hospital, but the offered to phone around and got me an appointment at a neighbouring hospital in 2 days. Might be worth asking.

I think I'll ring them on Monday. Its a big hospital so I'd hope they do they daily.

That said am getting very mild pains so maybe that's a sign....

Upsy - my mmc was diagnosed yesterday and I'm going in Tues. Been getting pains too. Last night they were quite bad and was a tiny bit of blood and I really thought that was it, but no. Incidentally, doctor told me to take paracetamol or cocodamol if it's too much for the paracetamol. Not ibuprofen though. Sucks doesn't it?!

He said ibuprofen wasn't appropriate in this case. I'm not sure why.
