Can anyone recommend a Prep school in the South East of England which is accommodating of highly sensitive children. A school that doesn't have compulsory rugby for boys for example, and one which is mindful that some children find the modern world overwhelming. Thanks in advance.

If you haven't found an answer elsewhere it might be helpful to ask again in the general "Education" section as it's probably seen by more people.

Wish I could help - but compulsory sport is fairly big in the prep schools I know.

Think you may find it really difficult, the only independent schools I know of in SE without rugby are 11+ senior schools where some play hockey instead of rugby
Have a look on the independent schools council website for info on particular schools.

I do know a couple where boys don't play Rugby, but they tend to be the ones that are fully immersed in the modern world.

I'm not sure how prominent rugby is at this school, but you might want to have a look at St Bedes Eastbourne

This is a tough one! Sports are a big deal at Preps. Preps place a lot of demands on a child academically. Is this the sort of environment DC would cope in??

I wonder if you might be best getting a letter from a psychiatrist excusing from sports on medical grounds if it's serious??

If it's not serious, I think unfortunately DC will at some stage be expected to do team sports and have no option. Maybe it's best to ease him in to it / work on helping him cope with a gentle introduction to it?
