Mirena coil and estrogen (sandrem)

I’m 51 Just had Mirena coil put in during a hysteroscopy- I had been on hrt for 2 years 2mg sandrema and 12 day’s utrogestron. I had to come off that whilst investigations took place which thankfully look like it was hormonal imbalance causing the additional bleeds. Thankfully this consultant is happy for me to go straight back on sandrema (been off 2 week) do I now have sandrema and coil and hoping this localised progesterone will be much better than the pill version I was taking which made me feel awful (not like, flat irritable etc) I suffer a lot with migraines more when I came off for those 2 weeks. Any happy stories on how the coil has been good for your hrt regime !

Yes! I've just posted on this. I have Mirena + Oestrogel and feel great. I'm 64. Consultant says his oldest ever patient on this regime was 94 so I'm not planning on giving up.

@ExConstance were you on different progesterone before you had Mirena coil ? I was on utrogestron 12 days per month. I’m really worried I won’t get on with coil as never found a contraceptive pill I liked !! Hoping I’ll feel good soon - feel so tired at the moment - yawning from about 10am !

I’m on mirena and oestrogel too. I started on Utrogestan but it didn’t seem to work well on my endometrium and I developed polyps and kept bleeding, even though I’m on continuous HRT as I’m post-meno.

My mirena was inserted just before Christmas and seems to work very well for me. I feel pretty good.

I had Kliofem oral HRT for many years, in truth I find taking a pill better than slathering myself with cold gel rach morning but as it is safer Its a hardship I can endure.
