I had an ultrasound scan last week and I've been referred to gynae as my endometrium is v thick. The sonographer did not specifically tell me how thick, but I heard her say to her colleague who was taking notes that it was 23mm. I'm 47 and still having regular, if very heavy periods, hence the scan. The scan was to check everything was ok for me to have a Mirena coil fitted but she said I couldn't as the lining was thick and it looks like there is something in the way and mentioned polyps, although not definitively.
I wasn't expecting to hear anything straight away, so was very surprised and then worried when my Dr called on Friday to check up on me and say he was also making a referral. I've stupidly googled and am now terrified that it's something awful. I've also now got crampy period like pain although I'm not due on for another 8 days.
