The gp started me on elleste duet 1mg tablets 7 days ago for peri symptoms - terrible sleep, aching joints, awful pmt, low mood. I'm 47 and periods are irregular now. I had already been feeling increasingly tired before starting them (which I blamed on waking up 3 or 4 times a night and struggling to fall back to sleep) but this week I've felt worse. Last night I had to go to bed at 8.30pm, tonight I was supposed to go out with family but had to get into bed at 4pm as I felt so shattered and terrible. On top of this I have what feel like period pains even though my period only ended about 5 days ago.
I know it's early days but I had hoped to feel a bit better by now, and was really looking forward to getting an undisturbed night's sleep for the first time in about ten years. But I'm feeling more tired and low than ever right now. Can anyone tell me if this is normal and I'll start to feel improvement soon?
I also have underactive thyroid and am having my levels for that tested next week to check I'm on the right dose.
