It's full on bright red heavy blood but the the amount of huge clots that that literally falling out of me, they're on the pad, down the toilet and sometimes after being on the loo when I stand up they fall to the floor. I'm sorry for been so tmi but I'm starting to worry, is this normal? Or should I see my Doctor about this. I was sterilized back in 1997. It's the heavy blood clots that have me worried. Any advice gratefully received.

Go see the GP. It’s normal to have flooding but you there are things that will help. I went to go and stood my ground to say I needed something to make it stop.

Ibuprofen in a large dose or transenamix acid both help bu5 won’t stop the cause.

Also get a blood test to make sure not anaemia.

I had heavy periods last year and eventually a clot the size of an egg fell out 🤮 and I took myself to A&E.

All the doctors and gynaecologists I spoke to say it's just old blood. It's terrifying though. Mine were caused by fibroids, and I eventually had an ablation and a Mirena coil.

Do go to your GP, as they'll get you an ultrasound of your womb and ovaries and see if there's a cause (like fibroids).

Are you tired, out of breath, losing hair? If so you might need extra iron.

Really sorry you're going through this - it's horrible. I hate the feeling of clots coming out! Such a sickening feeling.

Thanks girls, I'm terrified it could be something sinister. I have Crohns but don't know if this can worsen menopause.
So.you think I should definitely go to the Dr. ?

I am same age @Missymoo71 and have recently been bleeding for 40 plus days after previous long gaps between periods. Saw GP twice and they seemed not particularly bothered. Took Mefanemic Acid then Tranxemic Acid with this stopping bleeding, no suggestion of scan etc, suggestion was that this was just a menopause symptom ( I was passing large clots of blood too)

Hi @Missymoo71. I was literally about to write a post on this. I could literally copy and paste it. My periods have been mainly regular until around 12 months ago when the pattern changed to every 21 days. Missed a period a month or so ago and then started this period on 6th November. Have been bleeding ever since. This past week has been unbearable. The clots have increased in size. Every time I change a tampon I end up with a room like something off a horror film. I almost died when a clot the size of a golf ball fell out. Went to the gp on Tuesday. (Took 5 blinking days to get an appointment.) I saw a nurse practitioner who has taken swabs and was advised they would be back in a couple of days. Nothing back as yet. Still bleeding heavily and absolutely fed up with it. Had a spa day planned for next week but I won’t be able to go 😞. I’m 48.
