Menopause

Receeding gums?

Has anybody noticed receeding gums due to perimenopause or full menopause?

I think I've been Peri for just over 2 years, tests were negative (im now nearly 43), although I have lots of symptoms. I've also noticed my gums have receeded by about 1mm in that time. I have excellent oral hygiene, so it's not gum disease.

I've done some research and it says hormonal changes in pregnancy and menopause can contribute. Has anybody else found this to be an issue?

Gum disease is not just about oral hygiene, it can happen because of crooked teeth, smoking, genetics, over brushing and hormonal changes. You may well have periodontal pockets. See the dentist.

I was told that it’s normal due to ageing, by my dentist.
