Menopause

Surely too young and now completely confused

Hi. I'm 42 and have been told today I'm probably in menopause (not sure if that means perimenopause). I don't have kids of my own but have two wonderful stepchildren. Although I know I'm not going to have kids of my own as my partner doesn't want any today's news has really knocked me for six. I went to the doctors as I've been having terrible night sweats, waking up drenched pretty much every night, and not sleeping great because of this. I'm on the mini pill and have bleeds every three months or so. I feel like I'm too young for all this! I'm completely confused by HRT but the doctor I spoke to today said because I'm young for menopause I need to protect myself from osteoporosis. I'm going back to the doctors on Monday to discuss it more but I was just wondering if anyone has gone through this as early as me and has any advice on HRT or just how you're coping in general. Thanks.

Read the info on The Daisy Network. Charity led by drs for women with early meno. They have a forum but you have to pay to join.

You could be peri menopausal as I was at 40. Had menopause at 47. Had a few night sweats but no flushes. It's horrid. Good luck.

Maybe there should be a peri menopausal thread on here.
I'm 43 and very confused and overwhelmed by what's happening to me and what to do next.
The menopause matters forum isn't helping me much.

Definitely Pursue it. I'm 42 and I've already been through the menopause. It does happen.

I am on HRT, its not an overnight miracle, but definitely helping.
