Been peri for 18 months now and had the odd hot flush but this week has been something else. Been waking at night soaking wet and feeling so hot. It started a few days before I came on and for the first few days of my period too so nearly a week now. Is this what is feels like?

Ha!! Obviously that should be night sweats!

I don't think I'm aware of my night swears Grin.
Sweats though - yes that sounds like them. Dr Vosgel sage tablets help with mine.

Can they happen anytime or just before the period?

Maybe you are confusing 2 different things? I used to get hot and sweaty at night years before peri just before and during a period. Think this is quite common. Night sweats tend to be more often than that. I only had a few before starting HRT. Would wake up with sweat running down my cleavage, wet hair at back of neck etc.

Not sure then. I've only had the night ones this month for the first time

I swear the last two nights has been the onset of night sweats. I have enough symptoms already not hoping to acquire any more!! I am 53.

It's hell. I can't sleep and I'm totally exhausted Sad I'm constantly running on hot, I'm wearing thin t-shirts and thin summer clothes. I haven't needed my heating on for 2 years so on the plus side no heating bills, but the night sweats are a whole other level. I try sleeping with only a thin quilt but it's on and off all night long and my pillow gets wringing wet. I'm so close to try sleeping in a bath full of cold water!!! Dr says I'm not peri despite me only having periods once or twice a year.

I've suffered for few years, been on and off HRT, now off completely. Last period was about three years ago. Haven't had a complete and unbroken sleep for about five years due to night sweats. Day flushes were all sorted with HRT and seem to have gone now
So this is what Ive done.....
Got rid of my ultra hot memory foam topper. Bought new gorgeous mattress and got a wool and cotton topper ( have the cotton facing the sheet) Bought all new 100% cotton bedding including duvet cover, sheets ( top and bottom) and pillow cases.
Stopped caffeine after 12md, try to stay off booze except for maybe one night a week and trying to lose weight. I'm about half a stone over top of what is the higher range of healthy for my age and height so not obese but still overweight.
And I can honestly say it's all helping. The last month has been the best nights I've had. The sweats are much less severe and last for shorter length of time and I'm waking much more refreshed. Still up once or twice for a wee but straight back to sleep

I just learned how to make a decent cup of green tea today - don't brew for more than two minutes. It takes great. Every little helps. I still can't give up my two cups of normal tea a day though.

nota do you think that Hrt would be a help for me?

Best idea is to make a GP apt and discuss. For me, it changed my life as the day flushes were interfering with day to day life, the night sweats came afterwards

They are hell on earth. Mine start at my head and work their way down, I am frequently bathed in sweat, they are lessening in the day but worsening at night. I haven't had a period in 4 years and was hoping they would've stopped by now.

Mine were hell and woke me 2-3 times a night. They were often accompanied with heart palpitations and sometimes an overwhelming feeling of doom too, so I'd wake up, drenched and in a panic, heart racing, convinced something dreadful was about to happen! Just awful.

Have been on HRT a couple of years and it's been a bloody miracle!

Just coming on to recommend wool duvets. I take HRT and that has helped with the night sweats - still get them but not as frequently.

But when messing about trying to get the right HRT the wool duvet was a lifesaver.

Does HRT give you periods?

I'm having hot flushes day and night and it's horrible. Flushes doesn't describe it really; it's not as if it comes and then goes.

Gawd. Night sweats. I can feel them rising in me. Had them for 12 years.

Mind you, I spent the majority of my late 30s drunk. I now have the occasional glass but I have still suffered with sweats.

I have reduced coffee intake after late afternoon. I had a short term script of HRT which made me bleed heavily abd have cramps. Stopped those. Now back to no periods and am managing the sweats.
