My last period was on 8th feb I have had watery blood after wiping on tissues for about 2-3 weeks on and off but never goes any further. My periods have been all over the place for about 2 years sometimes they come every 4 weeks before months then they might come every 2-3 weeks for a while, jump to every 6 weeks and then back to normal! Some periods would be very heavy with fair sized clots and last 10 days other periods would last 4-5 days. This time apart from spitting it's 7 weeks since my period which is the longest time do far between periods. A little worried about the spotting dies this happen to anyone else? My last smear 16 months ago was normal I also had a blood test at time at my request to check hormone levels because of clots I think the doctor said it was heading towards peri menopause but still normal. I am 47 should I be worried about the 7 weeks absent period and spotting or is this how it works?

my periods have also gone haywire over the last 2 yrs or so, and my cycle has been the biggest change. The shortest has been 16 days, and the longest was 111 days! Mostly, when they turn up, they are fairly 'as usual' but some have been a little heavier. At the moment, though, I'm having what is (for me) a very light period. I think this sort of thing is par for the course. I haven't had any spotting but I believe that can also be a perimenopause symptom. If worried, it may be worth going to the doctor again to set your mind at rest?

I'm 47 and my usually regular periods began going haywire a year ago - bigger or smaller gaps between them, some very short and light, others very heavy with clots and going on for weeks. This current one started very light a couple of weeks ago and in fact virtually stopped, then began again a bit heavier and has now gone very light again, with watery blood. Predicting them and planning for them is near impossible. The one bonus is my periods used to be painful and now aren't.
I have noticed these last few weeks that my skin has gone very dry - areas like my thighs and stomach. I don't have hot flushes as such but my skin does feel prickly and irritated, especially in bed. The joys of the menopause or perimenopause...

Sounds like me. I'm 50 and have been having similar for about 18 months. Shortest gap was 18 days, longest 91 days. Sometimes heavier and longer, but the last one was 4 days and negligible. Pretty watery too.

I had my hormones tested with a blood test, but that came back stating that I was as fertile as I was 20 years ago [shocked], but the doctor explained that the test was probably taken when my hormones were spiking upwards. She also said to remember how unpredictable periods were when you first start as a teenager. The perimenopause is the same, but at the other end of your child-bearing years.

And as for another symptom? Dry eyes at night! So dry in fact that I have to put special drops in at bedtime, else my eyeballs stick to the inside of my eyelids! Lovely Hmm
