Just about to start these....any opinions? #abitnervous

It's irrelevant what anyone else says! Everyone is different. If it doesn't suit you, try something else, but give it 3 months- that's the 'rule'.

I've been on these for 3 weeks - so far, so good.

Eliza22 Mon 22-Feb-16 16:29:57

It fell off in bed last night. Great start. Had to apply a second one this afternoon.

Bruno1959 Mon 22-Feb-16 17:08:26

I've been sticking a large waterproof plaster over it to stop it falling off!

I choose a "flat" site, (I use the side of my shin, as I live in jeans). I clean the skin with surgical alcohol, to remove any grease. Heat the skin gently with a hairdryer on warm. Apply the patch, then press down, warming it with the hairdryer. It helps the glue to stick better.

Oh Ok, thanks for the tips!

PollyPerky Mon 22-Feb-16 21:39:05

hedwig- are you sure that it's ok to stick a patch on your shin? I have always thought that they had to be on an area that had a good layer of fat underneath to help absorption- so buttocks or hip areas.

hedwig2001 Mon 22-Feb-16 22:36:06

It is lateral to the shin, over part of the calf muscle. I tried hips and buttocks, but the patches got rubbed off by clothing.

I'm doings arms (deltoid area)

PollyPerky Tue 23-Feb-16 08:45:39

Won't either of you consider gel? I really couldn't be bothered with a patch. Gel is fab!

Bruno1959 Tue 23-Feb-16 09:06:10

Eliza - I was told that the patches had to be applied below the waist

Eliza22 Tue 23-Feb-16 10:32:41

Oh....the lady GP demonstrated application on the arm

Eliza22 Tue 23-Feb-16 10:33:42

Gel? Do you just rub it on daily? Need to give it all some thought. Will persevere for now.

Eliza22 Wed 02-Mar-16 08:23:19

Just to ask.... How long does it take to "kick in"? Been on just a few weeks now and feel no different.

PollyPerky Wed 02-Mar-16 09:34:45

It's only 14 days since you posted on 19 Feb. You are supposed to give all HRT 3 months before reassessing the dose and the type.

PollyPerky Wed 02-Mar-16 09:37:46

ps- you also need to take the patch off your arm if that is where it is.
Here are the instructions for drs from the manufacturers- it says apply below waist and most people use their bum cheeks!

Sorry to be late to the thread, just wanted to say that I've found that using an 'Opsite' thin film dressing on top of my patch helps to keep it attached (to my bottom!)

smile

Have changed to tabs. Too much faff for me, with the patches.
