Menopause

an epiphany...how daft do i feel?

i'm 46 (and a half :D). my period is late. big wow. this has got me thinking about the weird behaviour of my body over the last year or two.

my periods became closer together, then the duration seemed to change, then they were heavier, then sometimes my cycle was 5 or 6 weeks.

rather than the easily waxable downy tash hairs, i have developed a beard and sideburns.

weight gain has been steady and excessive even though nothing else has changed with my routine.

my hair has thinned a lot. i saw my gp in february because of this (i can put up with many of the other health issues i have but starting to see excess scalp pushed me over my limit). blood tests showed i had very low ferritin and low zinc so i've been taking supplements. a bit of regrowth here and there at first but nothing to write home about.

so this morning, whilst scraping ice off my car whilst the temp was -2, i had to take my jumper off as i keep going a bit hot.....have done for a while.

how stupid do i feel now? hmmmm.....wonder if these little things are linked by some magic force. like estrogen.

My oestrogen has been leaving home gradually for some time now. I hadn't realized how much it did.
