Just been to boots to get mine paid £25.99 then looked at reviews now I'm wishing I hadn't, but as I have im going to remain hopeful day 1 x

I bought one approx 6 months ago best thing I ever did
I was told that it could take weeks to work ,But it worked straight away the first week.
even if it is mind over matter it still works give it a chance after all £26 wont break the bank

Had a look at this as my friend recommended it but I have only just got it. Personally I don't give a damn about double blind placebo experiments - has nobody heard of chequebook science?? I much prefer anecdotal evidence - there is no such thing as a completely 'pure' experiment on something as variable as a human anyway. The original question was someone asking if anyone had tried it, not if anyone was aware of a double blind placebo experiment. And obviously it's not going to be available on the NHS - there is no money in it - unlike HRT. Sorry - obviously having a menopausal rant : ) Must get my Ladycare on!!

PS - new to Mumsnet so have posted on the wrong page - my rant is in response to a lady who gave an honest opinion and was scoffed at for saying something worked for her that hadn't been subjected to a rigorous, double blind study. I feel better now that's off my chest!!

I read a lot of different threads on this (I was looking for an answer to night sweats that wasn't HRT). I bought my Ladycare magnet four days ago and it honestly seems to be working. Much reduced sweats and I can actually sleep through the night. To be clear I also started taking Evening Primrose Oil at the same time, so I am happy to declare that this is in no way any sort of science experiment and that it just seems to be working for me. The reviews on Boots seem to be 50/50 for and against, but I am happy with a cheapish placebo effect that works. It attaches either side of your pants with a magnet; it's about 5x4cms.

There was a lady on menopause matters who, having lost her previous one, got a couple of magnets off Amazon and attached them to her knickers. That worked too, and it was only £4.

The only trials have been done by someone very closely linked with the person who developed this- he's an 'academic' dr not a medical one as far as I recall. The studies were quite small. The problem is that hormones fluctuate so much from hour to hour, day to day, month to month, that someone might be going through a 'good patch' for months and it's coincidence that they are using the magnet.

The placebo effect for ALL drugs ( including prescription ones) is at least 30%. So to be sure of any real effect you'd need to be looking at 50%+ improvement over a long period of time with thousands of women.

That research has not been done.
