Sorry if I'm posting in wrong place...I'll be 45 in Oct, had DS in 2009. Pretty much since having him periods have been irregular and range from a pain free slight show to doubled over flooding. The latter though is becoming more frequent...I've had to put plastic cover on car seat, sleep using one of DS bedtime mats...missed an exam through having to hide in a toilet until everyone had left the room after getting caught short..I'm utterly miserable with it Hmm is thus menopause? Is it worth a visit to Doc?!

Worth a visit to the Dr. This is having a massive impact to your life. You don't need to suffer like this.

Yes. There are drugs you can take- even Ibuprofen can slow down the flow and pain. Go and see dr and have a chat, and if they can't help as to see a gynae- you shouldn't have to put up with this.

Ask about mefanamic acid and transexamic acid. The two combined have really made a massive difference to my flow. I am 40 but have had heavy periods for years but only recently has something been done after also being anaemic for 20 odd years!

Good luck.

I'm 40 and I have this problem, but it's due to fibroids.
I've got one the size of a grapefruit unfortunately.

I take herbal tablets. I have to take them everyday
If I miss a few days, I have a horrendous period again.

I take 'Synergy natural, supergreens'
which are barley grass, spirulina, wheat grass and chlorella.

I read about taking similar tablets on here, and they do work for me.

I was like that , I went on cerazette and that was great no side effects and no periods . Unfortunately I developed breast lumps and have been advised to come off it as it could increase them developing, and now my periods have returned with vengeance and at 47yrs I think im peri menopausal because the mood swings are awful .
