Abnormal bleeding after sex - menopausal cause?

Not usually, unless its something like a sore fanjo problem.

Can you book another smear with another nurse? The horrid one may have moved on by now if it has been a while. Fortunately, I have always met nice nurses, so hopefully there are a lot more of them than the unpleasant variety! You will probably get sent to have one if it is overdue anyway, so may as well tick that box.

There are lots of other reasons for bleeding other than cervical cancer, so worth seeing someone and getting it sorted.

Some people have been to GUM clinics before - they usually have encouraging staff! They are better at checking for infections too. Might be worth a try whilst you are waiting for a GP appointment.

well done for getting a quick appointment!

Polyps and fibroids do seem to be quite common - hope it is not something too annoying. Best of luck with the ultrasound.
