GP has made me a bit fearful today- particularly about the needle size.

I had 7 Zoladex injections in an effort to kick start my menopause.

I have large fibroids and the GP thought that if I started the menopause then they would shrink. The drug can stop your periods - but I still got mine.

The drug was implanted just under my belly button. I can honestly say that I freaked out at the first injection - but all for nothing, as it was painless.

By the way - the Zoladex didn't work for me - but I hope it does for you.

I had Zoladex about 8 years ago, I was given it to stop my cycle for a few months as was having horrendous problems with endo and ovarian cysts.

The injections were, as Peppermint says, just under my belly button and whilst they were uncomfortable they really weren't too bad. Yes the needle is long as it needs to go in quite deeply, however I was a size 6 with very little fat on my stomach and it honestly was ok. The nurse doing the injection the first time scared me by warning me how painful it would be as I was so slim - like I could just pile on 2 stone there and then! She was talking rubbish though :) They were done every 4 weeks.

I was offered HRT but I decided not to take it. For me the cons outweighed the pros. I did suffer hot flushes but they were bearable and I only had 3 injections in the end rather than the 6 as my gynae decided it was pointless continuing as it wasn't really solving my problems. I was only in my mid twenties at the time and he was very concerned about it triggering the menopause and the osteoporosis risks.

Not sure how much help any of that is to you but feel free to pm me if there's anything else you'd like to know. Good luck :)
