wheresmyfroggy Thu 24-Feb-05 13:29:38

are you on pc or mac rtkm?

NomDePlume Thu 24-Feb-05 13:30:02

You should have the option to resize the picture in your pc photo software. Resize it (guestimate the reduction req) using the 'keep aspect ratio' option and check the size via 'properties', it should give you the KB size of the photo. It needs be 18kb or less.

RTKangaMummy Thu 24-Feb-05 13:45:16

PC I am 28KB

using windows thingy

JoolsToo Thu 24-Feb-05 13:51:33

can you crop some of the surrounding bits off?

Gobbledigook Thu 24-Feb-05 13:53:52

JT - how do you crop? Mine are jpegs.

RTKangaMummy Thu 24-Feb-05 13:55:58

so is mine

vala Thu 24-Feb-05 13:59:12

If you are using Microsoft Photo Editor, just double click on the image and this should bring the picture up. On the menu bar at the top of the screen you should see “image” (should be the 4th one along). Click on this and you should get a drop down menu. One of the options will be re size. Click on this. Change the current settings to about 200 width 150 height. Make sure “smooth” is checked and your using pixels.
Ok when finished making changes. Then “save it as” something other than the title of the original photo.

Hope this helps.

vala.

Just one of my obsessions

MunchedTooManyMarsLady Thu 24-Feb-05 17:47:56

beautiful car. Do you get commission?

RTKangaMummy Thu 24-Feb-05 17:51:07

Everything else was too big

so this represents my VOLVO XC70

JoolsToo Thu 24-Feb-05 17:52:21

are you on commission with Volvo?

RTKangaMummy Thu 24-Feb-05 17:55:26

I seem to have 2 roles here on Mumsnet:

TV guide and Volvo consultant

hub2dee Thu 24-Feb-05 18:43:41

LOL, RTKM.

I didn't imagine you'd have such shiny wheels.

BTW, apart from resizing the photo you can save to a higher compression / lower quality / fewer colour jpeg image and that shrinks things down.

RTKangaMummy Thu 24-Feb-05 18:47:58

I have tried making

physically smaller

black and white

sepia

Emailing to tech

And mega frustration

Nothing worked

Have spent all afternoon trying

Had to use laptop and desktop at same time and lots of frustration

Gave up and designed my own car

hub2dee Sat 26-Feb-05 15:37:46

One last thing might work: reduce image resolution (dots / pixels per inch). Screen res typically 72 / 75 dpi but photos / scans often 300 or more. HTH.

Also, colour depth doesn't need to be in the 'millions' or even 65K. You can try lower.

Otherwise, lovely Volvo. Is yours blue ? Surely you want to get a silver one. Surely.

wheresmyfroggy Sat 26-Feb-05 15:45:28

They say people look like their pets but you look like your car rtkm, you must really love it!

SeaShells Sat 26-Feb-05 15:49:09

Hmmm, nice bumpers RTKM!
