Hmm... I guess it depends who's coming from which directions! And what everyone wants.

'Centres' - Grizedale, Brockhole, Fellfoot, etc. are heaving on nice days in August.

My boys are happy with a picnic, a lake to walk by, and a forest to run around in. But you guys with littlies may need somewhere a bit more civilised? Am I right that you have 3 under 5 GDG?

Alternatively we could all go camping together ..?!

When?

The first half of the hols is looking quite busy for us already So it would be good to get something in the diary.

Things are looking much free-er for us from mid August.

Am up for it - away first week in July tho!

Roisin - yep, 3 under 5. Will that make life awkward if everyone else has older children? Don't worry if it does - go ahead and do something the older ones can do. However, somewhere to run about/picnic is Ok for them.

Free 2nd half of Aug too except BH weekend.

But you don't have proper toilets or showers! I hate all that traipsing about in the cold in your dressing gown to go to the shower block! Yuk!

OK - sounds like a deafening "No!" to camping?

What do you fancy then? Brockhole is very child-friendly, and the cafe serves delicious food, and it's fairly centrally located. There's an adventure playground there, and some indoor exhibitions and stuff if it's wet.

It's free, but cars cost £4.50 for whole day (£3.50 for 4 hours).

Alternatively we could meet somewhere like Tarn Hows - lovely walk around the tarn, (good surface for buggies and wheelchairs). Not much in the way of facilities though.

Or we could meet at Haverthwaite and go on the train and/or boat? Stopping for a picnice somewhere?

What does everyone fancy?
