It seems that us Scots aren't that efficient when it comes to organising meet-ups that lots of Mumsnetters turn up to! I, myself have been going to go 5 and only made it to 2 of them! >must do better<

Lets try to organise a Big 'un? Who's up for it???

Somewhere central.... like..... hmmm..... Falkirk?

No, seriously though, Glasgow or Edinburgh would probably be best.

Right... a few stipulations here....
Some of us don't drive or won't have access to a car that day, so to rule out that limitation it's best to be near a train station so that everybody can get there easily (no excuses that way if your car is in being serviced!).

I don't know any child friendly places in Glasgow and Edinburgh (only ever go shopping there, or nights out).... so I'll leave that to you lot to decide!

Any Sunday suits me...apart from Sunday 26th June (ds's birthday party).

I don't know glasgow at all, would probably get totally lost trying to get anywhere but could give it a go.

Can't think of anywhere in Edinburgh close to the station, most places are quite close since edinburgh is so small, but might be tricky to find if you didn't know your way around. The zoo is really easy to find and always fun, the royal museum is great and it wouldn't matter if the weather was a bit yuk. Or there's the castle or a picnic in princes street gardens.

I'm fine with any sunday from the 19th onwards, and can get to anywhere in edinburgh and can do glasgow if I have good directions. No car so would have to be near a glasgow station, train or bus.

I have 2 friends that work at Edinburgh Zoo! One is Senior Animal Presenter and the other is Headkeeper in the birds department.

If any of you have been to the zoo and watched the Close Encounters bit where they bring out animals for you to see....thats my pal doing that!!

AND Edinburgh Zoo are about to get Koala Bears! The only zoo in the UK to have them!!!
Edinburgh Zoo would be fine for me.... might convince DH to drive me through though.

I would love to go to the zoo again, not been there for ages! It's really easy to get to, not far from haymarket station and loads of buses that go right past it. I would have to get 2-3 buses to get there from my place, but shouldn't be a problem.

and koala bears are so cool!

Sounds a great idea - couldn't do the Gorgie Farm one last weekend as on a sailing course at Port Edgar!! We, DD 21/2, are in Edinburgh. Can only do w/e as work full time. Tend to get out and about at weekends anyway and 3rd July free at present! - on hols middle two weeks (I think). We have a zoo pass so can get cheaper entry for others!!

Great idea Toothache - but I am sooooo busy. Am happy to go any where (except and this might be the problem the Zoo, just can't do them at all make me feel all yuck)/can drive/get the train whatever just getting a free weekend could be a problem- in addition to my zoo phobia obvioulsy! Right here goes:

Sunday 5th June okay.
11th & 12th busy both days
18th & 19th June fine
25th June okay 26th June not
2nd & 3rd July - busy both days
9th & 10th July both fine
16th July busy, 17th July fine
23rd & 24th July both fine
30th & 31st July both fine
then August is wiped out until the the last weekend.

Hope we can get something sorted.

Outwith weekends could probably make a stab at most Thursdays and Friday.

Think I'll google some places in Glasgow/Edinburgh near to the stations that kids will enjoy.

Week Friday for the big flitting all going well!

Off work with no voice so can't really get things organised, have to depend on DH who is (a) away for the week and (b) useless.

In Edinburgh the Botanics is nice and is not a bad walk from Waverly although perhaps a tad too far for any toddlers. Many buses available thou'.

Hows you?

kmumed · 17/05/2005 15:34

Botanics are a great meeting place - there is also a playground opposite in Inverleith Park. Museum meant to be a good wet day option - never been but DD went with nursery and heard other good reports.

Of the dates Gomez gave we can currently do:
Sunday 5th June, 18th & 19th June, 25th June, then not until 30th & 31st July and w/ends free after that free so far.

Hope to meet up soon.

expatinscotland · 17/05/2005 15:38

LOVE the Botanics! If I won the Lotto, I'd live around there. Gorgeous neighbourhood. There's space to park your cars as well.

I'm free every day but the 19th - DD's 2nd Bday.
