Where are all the Cambridge mums gone? Would love to meet up.

flubber Fri 06-Mar-09 09:25:36

Just bumping up the msg.

alicecrail Wed 08-Apr-09 17:43:16

Hello, i know this is an old thread, but i'm in Newmarket, there doesn't seem to be any cambridge meet ups which seems odd, i would have thought there would be quite a few. Anyway, if you want to chat "local" i'm here grin

coolma Thu 23-Apr-09 18:53:11

I'm in Cambridge grin

saffycat Fri 24-Apr-09 19:46:02

I'm in Saffron Walden - not far from Cambridge, have a 4 year old daughter. I'm always up for a meet-up!

laurasmiles Mon 27-Apr-09 13:46:16

Hi there, me too! saffycat we both used to post on that long Saffron Walden thread and I've often seen your messages but always too late to catch up with you.
My two children are 4 and 2and a half and I'd be happy to meet up sometime, if you'd like? smile

ChasingSquirrels Tue 28-Apr-09 01:10:31

I'm just north of Cambridge and work in Newmarket.

ChasingSquirrels Tue 28-Apr-09 01:11:55

oh, but I'm NOT a mummy to anyone except my kids.

goldenpeach Thu 24-Sep-09 18:40:24

I revived this thread as we are moving to Cambridge next month. Is there a meet up and/or how is the local nct branch?

goldenpeach Thu 24-Sep-09 18:41:35

Forgot to ask... How are local breastfeeding cafes? I'm a breastfeeding helper.

mooki Thu 01-Oct-09 22:14:57

Hello goldenpeach - me again! there is an active NCT - with a big nearly new sale, I know a couple of the committee members though I'm not a member myself any more.

I found breastfeeding to be pretty easy going in the city. There's a fair number of people that do it. Michaelhouse cafe in particular have a sticker on the door.

I went to a drop in help centre at Brookfields hospital in the early days.

goldenpeach Sun 04-Oct-09 17:54:47

Hi, we must keep in touch. I have made contact with breastfeeding helpers in the areas, but have not contacted the NCT yet. I'm stepping down here and just waiting to relocate.

orangehaze Thu 08-Oct-09 22:10:57

Hello,
I'm a Cambridge Mum of 1 DD, aged 3. Just wanted to second what mooki said about Michaelhouse Cafe, they are very friendly and have some quieter corners for BF.
Also, the "Big Scream" run by the Arts Picturehouse on a Weds morning is fab, a real lifesaver for a new Mum. If you're not sure what it is, it's when the cinema opens its doors exclusively for parents with under 1s to see a film and you can use the cafe/bar/pancake house after the film.
It's great!

Goldenpeach (and anyone else) do message me once you've moved if you need a local mate
x

Poledra Thu 08-Oct-09 22:21:34

I've never looked for anywhere specific to bfeed in Cambridge but have fed all 3 DDs wherever I needed to and had no problems. Was in Waterstone's one day before they had a cafe and asked if I could feed there - assistant went and found an empty windowseat for me and asked me if she could bring me something to read while DD1 fed smile

goldenpeach Fri 09-Oct-09 20:38:11

When I move... sniff! Just lost the house we 'secured' through letting agent. The landlord found his own tenant and bypassed the agency (and us). angry

orangehaze Sat 10-Oct-09 16:49:46

Oh goldenpeach, what a wan*er that landlord is! Keep trying, there are some good landlords out there, I rented for years in Cambridge before getting a house out in one of the villages.

mooki Thu 15-Oct-09 22:06:12

Hello, sorry I forgot to 'watch' the thread. Oh that's so annoying for you goldenpeach.

I would be up for a Cambridge meet up - especially as I have signed up for the mn xmas meet and I haven't met anyone in rl before.

I have a 2 year old dd and don't work on a Friday at the moment. We are sometimes at a loose end on a saturday too as dh works on odd weekends.

goldenpeach Thu 15-Oct-09 23:04:11

Mooki, replied to your email. I'm eager to meet if I ever get there. So far the odd day trip where I visited the wonderful new library.

goldenpeach Sat 14-Nov-09 20:49:34

We are moving next week, but it has not been easy! Any meetup in the area?

goldenpeach Mon 23-Nov-09 11:46:56

I'm in Cambridge now. Any meetups?

mooki Tue 24-Nov-09 19:34:45

Well done goldenpeach - is it rented in the end? I'm due to go to the mumsnet christmas party on Saturday night but nothing more local that I'm aware of.

Would be happy to meet you and your daughter on Friday morning if that would suit?

mooki Tue 24-Nov-09 23:43:47

There's an NCT bumps and babies group on at the Emmanuel Hall from 10.30- 12 that has toddler toys and biscuits...

mooki Tue 24-Nov-09 23:44:32

sorry Unitarian Church Hall, 5 Emmanuel Road, Cambridge, CB1 1JW.

goldenpeach Wed 25-Nov-09 11:16:15

Yes, it would be nice, not sure when you will be reading this but you can email at my normal address or if you haven't got it, you can contact me at my general one at

membersfeedback at hotmail.co.uk.

Can do this week, but if it's too late when you get this, can do next week.

mooki Wed 25-Nov-09 22:14:45

ok, me and alice will be at Bumps and Babies on Friday morning at 10.30 ish. I am trying to mail you but everything's gone slow today.
