SW London - book swap and meet up?

Don't know if anyone would be interested in this.

I have a load of books that I need to get rid of (mainly low brow fiction!). Normally I take them to the charity shop.

It occured to me that there might be lots of other MNetters who do the same. Why don't we meet up and do a big swap? Any books left over could go to the charity shop as usual.

Would anyone be interested?

OK, I'll throw in some Kettle Chips as well.

Oh good! (I knew the Kettle Chips would smoke someone out)

I had in mind a picnic type of affair for a change - somewhere we could spread out and lay out all the books on offer?

Perhaps Richmond Park or Wimbledon Common?

What do you think/fancy?

In terms of dates, we're off on hols on 26 July for 3 weeks, so it would either have to be before that (could be tricky as not much time) or sometime after 17 August when we're back.

So it will be just thee and me then, Jura.

Shall we skip the books and just sit on a park bench with the Special Brew?

I could join you. I have lots of Czech high brow in exchange for chik lit low brow.

Oh yes please!

(Not sure about the high brow stuff mind you. Only because I can't read Czech, obviously)

Anyone else?

We're first meeting on the 11th July, though, aren't we? In Teddington. That's still on?

Oh yes, definitely!

This was just something else I thought of, as I was looking through the books that I need to get rid of. Thought that a social way of doing it would be more pleasant than the usual lugging them to the charity shop.

Think it will have to be after 17 August then, as I can't do much before 18 July.

What about you, Cristina?

Hi, I'd be interested, although we are on holiday from 14th - 29th of July. I have bags and bags of crime fiction and chick lit that's crying out for a good home. The stuff I'm getting rid of is definitely on the low-brow side! I'm in Richmond, by the way.

How about Friday 22nd? Any time or place fine for me.

Friday 22 good for me too.

I presume that an evening meet up would suit most, given work commitments?

Is an outdoor thing a good idea or should we find somewhere with enough space indoors?

I'm worried about the practicalities of us all lugging around loads of books!

How wonderful! So it started as a book swap and changed into a regular evening drinks get-together. Right up my street! Shall we bring DHs & families along too?

Oh no! Just us MNetters!

I won't be able to make this, but hope you all have a fab time. I'd definitely be interested in book-swaps in future if any happen when/where I can get to them!

That's a shame, lucicle - would another date suit you better?

What about all you other SW London MNetters?

I have childcare issues and transport issues, I'm afraid, so don't worry about me this time! But I will keep an eye out for any future book swaps and would love to come along some other time.
