Hello all
I am new to the board although I have visited the site often to get advice about equipment. I read last weekend's papers when mumsnet was mentioned and read it was a great contact for meeting new friends. As I am little lonely at the moment I thought I'd give it a go. I am in my late 30's with a 10 month old boy. I work part-time. I don't have any family in the area (relocated for jobs etc.)and all my friends with babies either live in my home town or have a different schedule to me. Don't get me wrong I have met some great people through past natal and everything but not many I have really clicked with, you know. Any how I would love to meet other mums who love the odd glass of wine/would love to go to the cinema once in a while/would love to drop in for coffee at a moment's notice/aren't competitive about their child!/feel like their life is going so fast they are hanging on for dear life. If this sounds familiar please let me know!
Ruby

Hi, Rubyt, and welcome!!
Whereabouts in Wilts are you?
Check out the threads on Bath, Bristol, West Country for headcounts, we are a little scattered around the area!!
I am in Trowbridge, moved here for DHs work 2 yrs ago from Bath. Have DD 3, and another on the way. I work part time in a nursery. I dream about wine!!

Hi! I just read your message and would like you to know I feel the same!!! I read the papers at the weekend too and decided to sign up for the same reasons as you, I live on the Bath side of Bristol (20 mins to Bath) and I too relocated here for a job.. the only people I know in the area are my work colleagues (soon to be ex-colleagues!) and obviously they work during the day! I have no family nearby either. I have met some 'nice' mums at postnatal group but no-one that I clicked with either. So it all sounds VERY familiar!

Ding dong (and others) are you free Tuesday 4th May pm? If so do you fancy meeting in Bath - trying to think of child friendly place - what do you think of Browns? Quite a big room with lots of space for buggies etc.

Ah... Trowbridge Spent a happy time driving round and round it, cursing, only a fortnight ago. Had to phone my inlaws from Tescos and ask them to come and rescue me!! Still, it's less than 30 minutes away from Bath RU hospital which was handy (Excellent children's ward BTW )

Sadly, the ILs are moving to Spain shortly so I'll have no reason to be down in Wiltshire in the future.

hello rubyt,littlerach,lalaa,dingdong etc
i'm new here, but have been lurking for a week or so and finally got up the courage to join in.
i'm 42,have two girls(both in school now)and i live just outside Bristol(15 min to Bath).like some of you, I don't have any family in the area, though i have made some good friends through ante-natal etc though it seems to be getting more and more difficult to get my mates organized to do stuff,so i'd love to meet up with other mums(wine/cinema/coffee sounds lovely, rubyt!).

rather than meet in a shop how about meeting up in Royal Victoria Park? I know my boy is VERY active and if I have something to do (such as chat/have some time to myself/read a book etc..) that's when he wakes up from naps. Say 1.30 pm in the Park 17.5.04 - by the baby swings?

hi,dingdong!
I've done the 'contact another talker' bit, so you should soon get an e-mail from MN with my e-mail address and then we can arrange something.(Wine sounds great!)
And no, I'm not from this area,so I don't have any family close by either,so pretty much in the same boat as you.
