Hello all
I am new to the board although I have visited the site often to get advice about equipment. I read last weekend's papers when mumsnet was mentioned and read it was a great contact for meeting new friends. As I am little lonely at the moment I thought I'd give it a go. I am in my late 30's with a 10 month old boy. I work part-time. I don't have any family in the area (relocated for jobs etc.)and all my friends with babies either live in my home town or have a different schedule to me. Don't get me wrong I have met some great people through past natal and everything but not many I have really clicked with, you know. Any how I would love to meet other mums who love the odd glass of wine/would love to go to the cinema once in a while/would love to drop in for coffee at a moment's notice/aren't competitive about their child!/feel like their life is going so fast they are hanging on for dear life. If this sounds familiar please let me know!

Hi, Rubyt, and welcome!!
Whereabouts in Wilts are you?
Check out the threads on Bath, Bristol, West Country for headcounts, we are a little scattered around the area!!
I am in Trowbridge, moved here for DHs work 2 yrs ago from Bath. Have DD 3, and another on the way. I work part time in a nursery. I dream about wine!!

I'm just on the Bath side of the Wiltshire boarder.

I am in North Wilts -near Bath - I shall keep an eye out for other posts as you suggest

Hi! I just read your message and would like you to know I feel the same!!! I read the papers at the weekend too and decided to sign up for the same reasons as you, I live on the Bath side of Bristol (20 mins to Bath) and I too relocated here for a job.. the only people I know in the area are my work colleagues (soon to be ex-colleagues!) and obviously they work during the day! I have no family nearby either. I have met some 'nice' mums at postnatal group but no-one that I clicked with either. So it all sounds VERY familiar!

have any of you met up yet?

littlerach Thu 15-Apr-04 20:11:22

I did a meet up at Cribbs back in Feb, was great to meet other people, although scarey!! DH was convinced I would be abducted!!
When are you all free?

dingdong Fri 16-Apr-04 12:06:32

I haven't met up with anyone yet, I only found out about this site a couple of weeks ago after it was in the paper - it is scary but it would be nice to meet new people in the area...
I can do tuesday 20th...afternoon????

rubyt Fri 16-Apr-04 13:07:04

I'm free on Mondays and then both Mondays and Tuesdays in a fortnight's time - how about coffee in Bath?

rubyt Tue 20-Apr-04 19:08:57

Ding dong (and others) are you free Tuesday 4th May pm? If so do you fancy meeting in Bath - trying to think of child friendly place - what do you think of Browns? Quite a big room with lots of space for buggies etc.

littlerach Tue 20-Apr-04 19:49:29

Sorry, can't do Tuesdays, can often do Mondays, if anyone's around then!! But if Tues is best, go for it, and we'll do another one soon!! I go on Mat leave in June so will be a free woman!!!

dingdong Wed 21-Apr-04 19:45:47

ooooooooooh bugger! I can't do that Tuesday! I could do Monday the 3rd p.m though??? is that any good??

littlerach Wed 21-Apr-04 21:10:59

Isn't that a bank hol?

rubyt Thu 22-Apr-04 17:04:46

ding dong/litle rach (and anyone else) - how about Mon 17th May - I know it's ages away! - but that's the next day I am free - what do you think?

SoupDragon Thu 22-Apr-04 17:11:21

Ah... Trowbridge Spent a happy time driving round and round it, cursing, only a fortnight ago. Had to phone my inlaws from Tescos and ask them to come and rescue me!! Still, it's less than 30 minutes away from Bath RU hospital which was handy (Excellent children's ward BTW )

Sadly, the ILs are moving to Spain shortly so I'll have no reason to be down in Wiltshire in the future.

littlerach Thu 22-Apr-04 18:19:33

17 May sounds fine to me...

dingdong Thu 22-Apr-04 19:17:49

oh noooooooo I can't do that day either - have a hospital apptmt! I can do the 10th, 11th, 12 & 13th of May! but you guys go ahead and meet otherwise nothing will happen!!! I will definitely come to the next one!

waterbug Thu 22-Apr-04 22:36:23

hello rubyt,littlerach,lalaa,dingdong etc
i'm new here, but have been lurking for a week or so and finally got up the courage to join in.
i'm 42,have two girls(both in school now)and i live just outside Bristol(15 min to Bath).like some of you, I don't have any family in the area, though i have made some good friends through ante-natal etc though it seems to be getting more and more difficult to get my mates organized to do stuff,so i'd love to meet up with other mums(wine/cinema/coffee sounds lovely, rubyt!).

rubyt Fri 23-Apr-04 12:55:38

rather than meet in a shop how about meeting up in Royal Victoria Park? I know my boy is VERY active and if I have something to do (such as chat/have some time to myself/read a book etc..) that's when he wakes up from naps. Say 1.30 pm in the Park 17.5.04 - by the baby swings?

dingdong Fri 23-Apr-04 20:02:49

the park is a great place to meet! my little girl is only 7mths old but she her lungs seem to be very well developed!!!! I can't make the 17th but I'd love to do it another time... rubyt (& anyone else) I will hopefully see you at Cribbs! -check out the Bristol/Bath Mums link if anyone else is interested! But I hope you have a great time at the park!

dingdong Fri 23-Apr-04 20:05:46

oops sorry about my message - didnt make sense did it??!!! I just wanted to say hello waterbug - it took me a while to pluck up the courage to join in too... I live just outside of Bristol - 15/20 mins to Bath... wonder if you're close by?? Im in Oldland Common??? just incase you fancy a coffee sometime...?!

waterbug Sat 24-Apr-04 19:58:22

Wow dingdong,I'm just down the road from you in Cadbury Heath(small world!)
I'll get MN to send you my e-mail address then we can get ourselves organized.

dingdong Sun 25-Apr-04 17:47:19
