Channel 5 News request - borrowers and savers

Hello

We've had a request for case studies from Channel 5 News.

They are looking to film with two different types of case studies: borrowers vs savers.

For the borrower case study, they are looking to film with someone who has a variable rate mortgage, who can talk to them about their thoughts/worries about the rate rise and the impact it may have on their financial situation. It would be a bonus if they have taken the mortgage out within the last decade and haven't experienced a rate rise before, but it's not essential.

For the saver case study, they’d like to hear from someone with a savings account, who will be welcoming the rate rise. They want to talk to them about why they're glad that the interest rate is rising, and what it means to them.

For both case studies, Channel 5 News would be looking to film some time between 9am and 2pm tomorrow - the interviews will be pre-recorded for the 5pm programme tomorrow. They can travel 2 or so hours outside of London for filming.

If you'd like to share your experience with Channel 5 News or have any questions about the item, please contact laura.mckenna@itn.co.uk

We at MNHQ don't have any further details about this and Laura won't necessarily be monitoring this thread, so if you have any questions about the item and would like to find out more please contact the journalist directly.

Thanks,
MNHQ
