CNET media request - teenagers and online fandoms

We've had a request for case study participants from Katie writing for CNET.

She's writing an article about 'how some children -- often teenage girls -- use social networks including Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat to harass and abuse girls or celebrities who are linked in any way to people they admire (thinking One Direction and Justin Bieber).'

She is looking for parents 'who might be able to tell me how they would or have reacted if they discovered their children engaging in such behaviour? Do they ever feel like their children's fandom gets out of control online and do they attempt to keep it in check?'

If you'd like to share your experience with Katie or have any questions about the article, please contact direct.

We at MNHQ don't have any further details about this and Katie won't necessarily be monitoring this thread, so if you have any questions about the article and would like to find out more please contact the journalist directly.
