BBC media request - longer school holidays

Hello,

We've had a request for case study participants from a BBC journalist called Lizzie Massey

She is writing an article about 'schools starting to elongate holiday periods using baker days to allow parents to take their children on cheaper breaks and avoid them taking children out of school in term time without permission. This is happening for the October half term in parts of the south east, and Wales.'

She would like to know what parents think about this issue. 'Would you encourage it to be rolled out nationwide, or do you think that might pose problems? (eg running the risk of travel agents just elongating the time at which they rocket the prices).'

If you'd like to share your experience with Lizzie or have any questions about the article, please contact lizzie.massey@bbc.co.uk direct.

We at MNHQ don't have any further details about this and Lizzie won't necessarily be monitoring this thread, so if you have any questions about the item and would like to find out more please contact the journalist directly.

Thanks,
MNHQ
