Reader's Digest media request: people 60+ who live with or near their children

Hello,

We've had a request for case study participants from a freelance journalist working on a piece for Reader's Digest.

The article is about whether there's a growing trend for people aged 60+ to choose to live very close by to their adult children, perhaps sharing a home or choosing to live a few houses away.

The journalist would like to hear from men or women aged 60+, who live in a granny flat adjoined to their child's house, or a property in the same grounds, or an annexe of their child's house. (If this applies to your parents rather than you, she'd love to hear from them too.)

Interviewees (who may be single/a couple/widowed) will be asked about why they've chosen to live near to their children, the benefits of living so close, if it ever causes any problems, and how they make it work so everyone has their privacy/time alone as well as time together as a family.

They will also need to supply some photos of themselves/their family.

The journalist is happy to credit architects/building companies/any other relevant businesses.

If you'd like to share your experience with Reader's Digest or have any questions about the article, please contact Eimear O'Hagan (eimearohaganfreelance@gmail.com).

We at MNHQ don't have any further details about this and Eimear won't necessarily be monitoring this thread, so if you have any questions about the article please contact the journalist directly.

Thanks
MNHQ
