Been low carbing for 4 weeks now. Sticking to 20 net carbs a day.

Initially lost 6lbs in the first few weeks and since then nothing.

Typical day is:

Breakfasts- Two fried eggs with 2 slices of seriously low carb bread and butter ( 3 net carbs)Keto coconut flour pancakes cooked in butter with no sugar maple syrup and melted butter.( 4 net carbs) Two slices of low carb bread and butter.

Lunch Crust less quiche with green salad and a few slices of tomatoes mayo and olive oil (4 net carbs)/ cold plate with cheese, ham, olives , salami celery, cream cheese (5 ish) sandwich made with low carb bread.

Dinner Salmon in garlic butter, courgettes and asparagus. ( 4 net carbs)
Roast chicken/ roast lamb with cauliflower cheese and green veg
Bolognaise sauce with a sprinkle of cheese ( no spaghetti)

Always allow a few extras for milk in tea- can't drink it black and don't like coffee.

Usually have a handful of Brazil or pecan nuts

Occasionally have raspberries and cream ( 5 net carbs) but have cut this out recently as wondered if this was the problem. ( Nope)

Have the odd glass of red wine and gin and slimline- because quite frankly there is nothing to look forward to. Nothing crispy- cheese bites give me indigestion and pork rinds make me heave. Nothing sweet. Can't have a takeaway- am rather wondering why I am sticking with it as it just isn't working like the last time I did it. Waiting for the whoosh but it just isn't happening...

Where am I going wrong?

This is more than 20g carbs and the calories are probably 2000kcal. Milk has sugar you should have double cream instead. I was a staunched cals dont matter on keto, ate anything keto under 20g just tracked carbs not calories and for 3 damn months lost nothing. Switched to intermittent fasting and eating 500 to 1100 cals a day everything measured strictly on my fitness pal app and the scales are finally budging. First 2 days were hard then easy.

I found the same thing. First two weeks I lost a stone. Then stuck to the same plan rigidly and lost nothing for 6 weeks. It’s disheartening. I think my body just doesn’t work like it used to. The first big loss was obviously just water or something. I have thyroid issues so I know my metabolism is a bit fucked anyway, so I’ve stopped trying to do anything drastic and now trying to just eat ‘normally’ within reason and not worry about it.

Are you drinking enough water? That’s supposed to help a lot.

Also check out Keto Dad and Dr Berg on Facebook as they have lots of useful info that might help.

I think you’re simply eating too much.

My Keto day went as follows;
One spoon coconut oil while I’m waiting for kettle to boil. Then I make bulletproof coffee which is made with tbsp of coconut oil and a tbsp of butter. This lasts me till midday.

Midday I have a small portion of leftover chicken curry on iceberg lettuce. Then I have half a pomegranate with single cream on top.

I then had a tiny portion of a slow cooked liver dish I made for DP and that was it.

At the moment I’ve lost 1 stone 3lb and have around 7lb left to go.

@BrigitsBigKnickers I know you're not doing Bootcamp, but I can tell you from the 12 years I've been running it, this is a very, very frequent occurrence - good losses in weeks 1 and 2, then nothing in weeks 3 and 4. It's all to do with your body settling into/getting used to fat burning rather than carb burning. Keep with it, and things should get going again soon!

I'm interested, though, that you're talking about net carbs - are you in the US? In the UK we don't subtract fibre from carb counts, so the carb count shown on packets etc is the count you should be using.

I agree with @TurkMama though - that's definitely more than 20g carbs per day.
