Yes, lost nearly 3 stone low carbing 6 years ago and gradually found most of it again over the last 2 years when work became more full-on. Looking forward to clear skin, less pmt and being thinner!

Yes me, also from the 2nd.

Although I'm not going hardcore, I'm going to eat pulses and any veg, including roots, sweet potatoes etc just not normal spuds

That's why I'll be the one having twenty roast potatoes on my plate tomorrow Grin

I think I am going to go hardcore, at least for the first couple of weeks. I did Dukan all those years ago and I vaguely recall extending the very very low carb bit for longer than the few days the book suggests. More recently I have done a sort of no complex carb variant, with plenty of meat, fish, eggs but also salad at least once a day and a smoothie (made of veg, a few berries, coconut milk yogurt, seeds and protein powder) for breakfast and I really don't lose much weight with that. So hardcore it is Sad.

I'm going to eat

Meat (in moderation)
Fish
Vegetables
Butter
Olive oil
Nuts

I won't eat:

Pulses - yet, will go back onto on phase 2
Bread
Potatoes
Carby veg
Sugar of any kind

Polly, I'm doing India and neris, idiot proof diet, they recommend hardcore for 14 days, so that's what I'm doing - no alcohol either

I'm intending to do this too. Lost 1 1/2 stone this year doing it but a stint in hospital followed by Christmas made me fall from the wagon, hard! Blush I felt so much better on it and found that when I went back to eating carbs, I do seem to handle them a bit better. But could do with losing at least another 3 couple of stone.

What's the India and Neris diet Fervent? Last time I didn't follow a particular duet, just made sure I had less than 20g and no carbs such as bread, potatoes, pasta etc.

I've done IPD in the past

I'm Dry Jan-ing from the second, so that covers the alcohol bit to start with

Joining! Doing very low carb. Will have pulses after 2 weeks (lentil soup, basically). Some fruit after 2 weeks.
Mainly fish and veggies and salads and greek bloody yogurt instead of toast Sad
Also doing dry Jan.

I know a month of the above and I'll be at least 7 pounds lighter, happier, healthier and with loads of energy and not a puff pie.

So why am I dreading it?
Will enjoy 1st Jan though!

Well, I've started today. Just having my coffee with cream. I bought the Idiot proof diet on kindle last night and have started reading it but am doing low carb boot camp for the moment. I lost a stone on the bootcamp before last but have, of course put it back on.

Onward and downward!

Hi all,

I'm starting low carb tomorrow. Getting married in 4 months and need to drop a stone and a half which I realise may not be achievable but I'm going to try my best!

I have cut down on carbs before (i.e. Rice, pasta etc) and had moderate success but I'm gonna go a little more full on this time and try and cut most fruit etc also. Eeeeek!

Good luck to everyone starting a new weight loss mission this week x

I'm continuing low carb. List 1.5 stone from Aug to Dec and have relaxed a bit over Xmas but back doing it strictly tomorrow.

I'm starting in the morning, which is when I go back to work so it feels like a natural beginning point.

I reckon I'll be ravenous by 10am with no smoothie, so will boil a couple of eggs to take with me on the train and then will collect lots of those little packs of meat /fish from m&s to eat through the day and a giant bottle of water with which to stave of the diet headache I invariably get for the first 3 days. Feel sorry for the people who I work with really!! I've got so used to overindulging lately that I don't think I am going to be much fun for the next week... (but when I have lost the first 4 or 5 pounds and my clothes don't bite into me anymore will cheer right up!)

I'm starting tomorrow too, first day back at work and low carbing.....I too feel sorry for my work colleagues Grin

Once I'm back on it I do really well although it does worry me that we still have quite a lot of Christmas food in the house and my husband doesn't want to get rid of them. I will have to be focused and strong and if I get the urge for a huge hunk of panettone you'll have to talk me down!

I'm starting after the weekend. I'm away from tomorrow until Friday morning and then have DS's birthday and birthday party over the weekend.

My biggest problem is a dairy allergy. I've tried dairy substitutes but I think I've done without milk, butter and cheese for so long that I just don't like the taste/texture. Can I make up for it with fattier cuts of meat?

I'm starting today. I've tried hardcore low carb in the past, but end up sneaking in chocolate or alcohol, so it's wasted effort.

What works better for me is just enough carbs not to crave them and to give me flexibility with food! Fruit, most veg and sweet potatoes are ok, the odd pulse (a couple of times a week).

Have a couple of nights out planned this month so will have a drink on those, but none at home. Looking forward to feeling better generally!

I'm in too. Would like to lose a few more pounds and be healthier for Jan.

I'm not going to give up alcohol thought - which is the best? Is gin ok?

Judith, I reckon gin or vodka but no carby mixers (slimline tonic prob ok but not juice). Can you drink a little and then not overeat? The biggest issue for me with booze (other than the fact that I genuinely love wine and can drink far too much of it) is that the next day I will crave carbs and find it very hard to resist a little piece of toast (thin end of the wedge...). So it is all or nothing here Sad

Me me me!! Although I didn't really intend to, but made a start last night as I'm just sick of eating carby sweet junk all the time!

My main aim to begin with though is to cut out refined sugar (fructose specifically) as I practically live on the stuff! Then I'll be looking to cut out other carby stuff too like bread and potatoes, although I'll start reducing these straight away too and making lower carb choices where I can. I've given up booze completely too.

My plan of attack is to fill up on nice filling meals (have been looking at recipes on the Diet Doctor website) and stop all the mindless and endless snacking! I currently eat a shocking amount of sugar, to the point where I skip meals because I've been snacking so much Blush. I've got a friend who is also as bad as me with the sugar, so we're supporting each other to stick with it.

First day back at work tomorrow so hoping I don't wake up with a raging headache...lunch will be provided too, but I've already resolved to fill up on the main course and ignore the desserts.

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

I'm in. Like ChiefClerk, I've lost over a stone on LCHF early this year. I maintained from July-dec and then went a bit wild Blush.
So I'm back on it as of yesterday. I found previously that if I had 2 coffees in the morning, I wasn't hungry until lunch. Yesterday's lunch was buttery scrambled egg and dinner was roast beef, broccoli and cauliflower cheese. Today's lunch was chicken mayo salad and dinner is a surprise.
I found posting on here last time a big help too so will use you all again :)
Good luck everyone.
