I've done it. No success but I have a very weak will and always caved after the end of the second week. I wont lie. It's tough bloody tough. People have done it and kept it off. Keep your eye on the goal. Distract yourself as much as you can. Try to get somone else to cook for a while. All the best luck in the world. Smile

I followed the plan Sole Source for 6 weeks and lost 2 stones however the downside is I was left with gallstones which gave me 6 months of extreme pain, illness and a week long hospital stay. Gallbladder now removed.

Try Slimming World instead?

Cambridge is an excellent plan and is highly nutritious. Nutrition is essential while in weight loss mode. Cambridge has also been proved to reverse type 2 diabetes in 8 weeks.

I have maintained my weight loss for nearly 3 years.

If you revert back to your old eating habits then you will put the weight back on.

It's all about making wise food choices for the future.

Good luck!

I'm starting Cambridge/lighterlife too! ... I prefer some of LL packs. Cambridge ready meals chilli is to die for! And if you're desperate you can make cauliflower rice .. virtually no cards and I promise it tastes delicious x good luck xxx

Easy to lose weight. Great if you are preparing for surgery or something. I've done it twice. Lost 2.5 stone in 2 months. Weight went straight back on. I needed to lose weight for a job interview as I needed to be in normal BMI. I had my interview then went straight out and ate a doughnut, cheesy panini and a milky coffee. It was the most intense pleasure I've ever had when eating. However, it's not a long term solution. Try slimming world! My friend lost 8 stone in a year!

Please don't do it.

It is horrifically expensive.

I found the products tasted AWFUL. Just foul.

It does not teach you healthy eating habits. My consultant admitted this (she was, in fact, very overweight herself) and told me they just focus on getting the weight off and it's not about a change in mindset.

I have never been so deprived, miserable and hungry as I was on this diet.

If you do a VLCD you have to think about maintenance and how you are going to keep the weight off after you start eating real food again.

I have lost 3 stones on Slim and Save, have about 3.5/4 to lose, but already I'm thinking about how I'm going to maintain and what life will look like after this. IMO it's a lifelong thing, that probably does ease with time but you always have to work on.

I've been practising mindful eating and examining my triggers relating to food and overeating. Time will tell whether the weight stays off, but you really have to work at your mind set. IME the diet part with the packs is the easiest bit, the hard work stars when you get to goal and go it alone.

I'm amazed when people say think a whatever diet was unsuccesful because they stopped it and put the weight back on. If you go back to the original diet that made you fat in first place, what you expect.

I've just started this today. Did it last year for a while but fell off the wagon but whilst on it lost a lot of weight and it taught me that I don't need a lot of food and I was defo more able to control what I ate. Then I had a baby and now I'm back at it. I find it really hard but it works and works fast, that's what I need

I've done it several times with varying degrees of success, the first (and most successful) time I stuck it for 3 months and lost nearly 4 stone.
I maintained for awhile afterwards but as soon as I started eating normally again (and slipped back into old habits) the weight went back on.
So I did it again, with less success as I just couldn't stick at it properly second and subsequent times.
It's bloody hard and miserable only eating packs or bars.
I'm also convinced it has screwed up my digestion completely. I suffered gallstones and now live permanently with reflux and IBS type symptoms.
It's good for a quick fix but isn't sustainable. I felt so deprived whilst on it (even though I was pleased with the results) and I found myself constantly thinking about 'real' food. It didn't teach me to have a good relationship with food like a slower more balanced diet would have. Moderation is the key to everything, not starvation on a VLCD.
