Hi there. I started a low carb high fat diet 7 days ago following a lot of advice I've read on here, limiting carbs to 20-30g, increasing fat intake. But when I've stepped on the scales this morning I've put on a pound! I could stay the same weight with my old eating regime! I have about 3 stone to lose realistically so am really disappointed.
Do I keep at it or try something else?

I don't know much about low carb diets but is it possible it's water retention? I know if my period is due I can 'put on' 3-4lbs overnight shock it goes away again by itself with a couple of days. Although I find drinking extra water helps. Maybe it's that?

It takes a while for your body to adjust esp if you are a dieter. Are you drinking enough water and eating enough fat. Weight loss isn't linear esp on a low carb diet. Have you taken your measurements - I have often lost inches even if it doesn't show on the scales. Keep on going and TRY to only weigh monthly. Next week you will probably drop multiple pounds. Good luck

I've been on a weight loss mission and find it more helpful mentally to weigh several times a week and average it (I know that goes against most advice).
Like a lot of women my weight fluctuates by a few pounds, so if I weighed x amount on a "good" day, waited a week and weighed on a day when I had, say, water retention so was a few pounds heavier I'd feel really down about it.
I also weigh in the mornings, before eating and after the loo for consistancy.

I haven't measured myself so will do that.

I also have a skirt that just won't bloody button and I use that - I can at least get it over my thighs now! Hoping for it to actually fit by Xmas.

I drink 3 plus litres of water a day and that helps.

It would really help if you could tell us what you've been eating - very difficult to see whether you're making any mistakes if we don't know!
