Low-carb diets

Really sick, is it the low carb?!

Started Monday and have followed it to the letter. Woke up this morning however feeling absolutely horrendous and have been sick a few times. Is it the diet? I did have a VERY high sugar diet before. I'm also breastfeeding if that makes any difference.
Do I power on and try to get through this? Or up my carbs a bit?

Any possible viral infections aside ... Sugar withdrawal can be horrendous -- really quite awful. Removing carbs at the same time might be a lot for your system. Maybe try doing sugar first, then go low-carb.

Can it make you physically sick?

I think I'd be looking more towards a bug than the LC. Its a bit early to be going into ketosis which is when the nausea can hit. Even then I haven't heard of people actually throwing up!

If you do eat that much sugar then, as Gatewalker has pointed out, you might be one of the people who needs to drop sugar first and then look at reducing the other carbs. You will have made a big improvement in your diet just by removing sugar and fructose. Hope you soon feel better.

I've not heard of people being physically sick from sugar withdrawal. Headache-y, yes, but not spewing up. Sounds more like a bug.

I feel sick sometimes when lowcarbing I think it's due to the amount of water you need to drink - flushes out to much salt/minerals. Drink stock or these and feel better instantly.
