Because at the moment I'm using slices of cheese and that can't be good!

I know the flax cracker things get a bad rep, but anyone found any other kind of cracker recipes that work and don't ming?

I like the natty little groove in celery, just the right size for safe delivery. Mind you I like celery.

Are slices of cucumber allowed?

Raw swede slices, much nicer than they sound! I make some really good flax crackers, I'll see if I can dig out the recipe. We make them shaped like tortilla chips to have with chilli and they're great.

These: ditchthewheat.com/low-carb-chili-doritos/
They're a bit of a faff to make but worth it, and keep well in an airtight box.

Bit of a faff to make, but taste ok

These are good if you have a food processor. Very quick to make. Just nuts, eggs, and flavourings. They're nice and crunchy if you roll the dough fairly thin.

I am partial to pate on brie though Smile

I like oopsie roll myself but I make it in a swiss roll tin and then cut it into squares. I don't like celery but I often use chicory (endive) for stuff like pate and nut butter. It makes a neat little boat shape and is less floppy than using little gem leaves.

I mainly go for celery. But thin slices of this 'bread' toasted would also work well I think:

It's really easy. Can stick a bit in a metal tin - a silicone one is best if you have one.

I use little gem lettuce for things like that.

And here's me just thinking, paté and apple slices?? you DIRTY BASTARD! Shock Grin

I tried cucumber earlier, but the moisture and flavours were fighting for me. And celery can FTFOTFOSM, obv.

so oopsie rolls might do it then?

Gem lettuce with nuts/seeds on top?

Report
3BloodyKids · 09/01/2015 23:02

aha! gem lettuce! (no need to ruin it with seeds though)

Chicory leaves

So I made some oopsie rolls and they were ok!

I mean, they're a bit weird and eggy with a hint of meringue, but I think they'd make good bacon butties. My mixture seemed a bit runny though, is it meant to be?

I'll have to try the 'breads' too once I've been shopping for weirdy ingredients.

I find a fork perfectly reasonable Grin. No need for alternative delivery vessels in my opinion!

Same goes for cheese - why fill up on crackers when you could fill that space with more cheese?!

StickyProblem · 10/01/2015 17:03

I leave cucumber slices out for 10 mins to dry up a bit.

You can get a version of milled flax seeds with added ground almonds and Brazil nuts. Mix with water, and roll between 2 sheets of parchment very think. Bake for 20 mins or so and make a v palatable cracker.
