Anyone tried the Hemsley+Hemsley diet?

I picked up a copy of their book this week as it seemed slightly more sustainable than full-on paleo but without the pain of having to give up legumes on top of everything else. (I can give up bread but getting rid of delicious houmous and beans in stews? No way!) Has anyone given their way of eating a try? If so, how did it work out for you? I have lots to loose - a two-month old horse, apparently! - so something that isn't complicated or ridiculously strict seems sensible...

i have bought the book post Christmas as I got it for my brother and liked the look of it! I have tried the muffin frittatas so far which were delicious and have loads of other things I plan to cook from it (although anything with an ingredient Idon't recognise may not happen....)

I haven't done their muffin frittatas yet, but I'm sure those will become a staple for DH's breakfasts. He always used to have those when we did paleo! I like their buckwheat porridge for breakfast but it is a bit of a faff. Might knock up the granola for a faster breakfast.

I'm going to have their pina colada smoothie this afternoon as a snack. Hopefully all the vitamins will help get rid of my sore throat!!

I have just started cooking from their (gorgeous) book - it is all quite faffy I think, which could be a challenge for me (work full-time and 2 DCs). My bone broth is currently on its THIRD day of cooking as I can only ever have it on whilst I'm at home! Was already thinking about getting a slow cooker, would be worth it for some of their stuff I think.

Having said that, made hot buckwheat noodle salad last night and was delicious, not the quickest thing as loads of chopping involved but no more than for your average stir-fry. I did think there was a lot of oil involved, but am more used to low fat eating than low carb so perhaps this is not exceptional?

I did the broccoli fritters last night and they were ok but cold today dipped into tzatziki were delicious!

Have done a few things now and they've all been pretty good - special mention for the Bounty Paradise bars, which are amazing.

Kids also going wild for the almond butter mixture they suggest on "apple rings 5 ways" page (not to mention the paradise bars. I've had to put them on the top shelf in the fridge so they're out of reach for short arms).

I made the moroccan chicken dish with a few adjustments last night. It was delicious. You're right though it's a bit faaffy and i can't get all the ingredients where I live - like the linseed flour. Quite expensive too, but the food does all look lovely and it's definitely a way of eating that appeals to me. Think it'll be easier in the summer when there's more veg in season.
Yet to try the delicious looking sweet treats.

Don't quite understand the food combining thing either. I get the no meat and starchy stuff but is it saying that starchy veg, beans and grains are ok all together?

Ooh was considering getting this book, likewise for a slightly 'easier' Paleo. Any other MNers with experience please share!

Zinnia you need a slow cooker! Then you can leave it on unattended.
