Breakfasts without eggs or dairy

Can anyone recommend low carb breakfasts that don't contain eggs or dairy? All I can think of are kippers but those handy microwave packs have butter in.

tinned smoked mackerel in olive oil
leftover veg soup or coldcuts?
Green smoothie (no need for yog)

if you can bear it - liver and mushrooms!

I have a grapefruit in my fridge and keep meaning to have that for breakfast ...any day now...

I keep slipping in and out of egg free dairy free and it is harder but feels healthier.

Bacon and mushrooms
Chicken (cooked the day before and served cold with some spinach)
Smoked mackerel

I did a variant of Paleo a while ago, and these were the basis of my breakfasts. I do eat eggs and yogurt though - so was able to vary a little.

Coconut porridge?

I make mine with normal milk but you could probably use coconut milk. Just add about three dessertspoons of dessicated coconut, a small amount of (coconut) milk and simmer for 5 minutes, then mix with mashed or pureed fruit of your choice.

someone on my instagram feed posted her breakfast of poached chicken with carrot salad (grated carrot with raisins as far as I could tell) and guacamole. to me that would make me vomit but then if you are serious about low carbing then I guess you get used to it.

you can buy smoked kippers or mackerel without butter in them.

How is miso soup on carbs, assuming you leave out the noodle part? A clear broth with vegetables in. Popular in Asian cultures for breakfast.

Tbh I no longer eat breakfast most days. But I suppose that might not suit everyone.

Otherwise I did find most leftovers to be perfectly palatable for breakfast. Even curries and stews and proper 'dinner' foods...

Yep, I vote for leftover anything too.

Breakfast is a meal. It is OK to eat food you would eat at normal times not just speshul breakfast food. Really, it is OK to eat curry for breakfast.

Kelloggs has us brainwashed. Probably.

I 'knew' what one should eat for breakfast.... Muesli, porridge, etc. But yesterday DH who is trying his best to be LC with me, brought me a cold hard boiled egg (fine) and a cold, skin-on cooked chicken joint. At 7 a.m. Yuck! The thought was there and the food was correct, but at 7 a.m? Bleurgh. DH, being a boy, doesn't have anything like a woman's grasp of calories, fat etc having not spent his entire life reading about diets, celeb fat gain and loss, body dysmorphia and so forth- well, I am having to guide him every step of the way! I recall his 'attempt' at low fat/cal a couple of years ago. Sacks of dried fruit, nuts, avocados, mounds of pasta and potatoes etc shock grin...

Funnily enough I have no problem with poached egg, bacon and a chipolata for Sunday morning breakfast, though!

However, I am a LC newbie and am learning (and get a bit annoyed at DH's constant 'Is this OK? Can I eat that?' I don't necessarily know, I'm not BIWI Briffa!) and am still nervous about eating fat!

For the record, I thought butter was OK? As in kippers in butter sauce?

tansie I'd be quite happy with a cold chicken leg or whatever for breakfast!

help carrot and raisin are not LC, I realise you said that you couldn't eat that anyway but just in case anyone else was planning on.

Butter doesn't count as dairy on BIWIs BC but maybe the OP needs to avoid dairy for another reason?

I have different things but here are my most common:

Bacon and eggs
Egg in a cup (with butter though)
Coconut porridge (made with coconut milk)
Leftovers
Breakfast muffin things (eggs, sausage etc in a muffin tin like mini crustless quiches)
Mackerel fillets
Omelette

God, I just realised that most of my things contain eggs! Sorry OP!!

OK, non-egg/dairy

Coconut porridge
Leftovers
Mackerel fillets
Bacon
Sausage
Fruit (berries only) sometimes I add berries to my coconut porridge

Breakfast muffins I just mix eggs with whatever else (sausage, bacon, mushrooms) and put in a muffin tin then bake in oven until done. I think I answered you on another thread.

Mine is slightly different, I use 25g coconut (desiccated), 25g ground almonds, 100mls coconut milk and a dash of cream. All in a pan on hob until its warm.

My DS3 is dairy, soya and egg intolerant so I'm planning to cut dairy and egg from the third trimester this pregnancy to try and prevent food intolerances in the baby. It's not a tried and tested technique but after the hell we went through with DS3 I'm willing to try anything. The problem is with being LCHF then butter and eggs make up a huge part of my diet right now. At the moment I'm thinking about bacon and baked beans for breakfast as my carb requirements are slightly higher during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It's going to have to be something simple as with four kids and having a section I'm not going to be fit for much cooking when the baby arrives.

Cereal with rice/soya/almond milk. Pancakes made with rice milk and cooked in dairy free spread/oil.
