Low-carb diets

water retention in hot weather

Does anybody find that they are not losing ( or gaining) in this warmer weather, my carb intake has still been fairly low less than 20\30g a day, but scales are not moving or if they are they are going up!

Any advice would be great and I am drinking loads of water, plus herbal tea and only have a couple of coffees in the morning thank you

I have had this. Have you scales that measure your fat percentage because you can see that go down whilst retaining water?

Also I plateaued over the month before for a few days and then suddenly lost pounds quite quickly, probably hormonal fluctuations.

I have also experienced true plateau low carbing and made the decision to reduce portion sizes (only slightly) and this had the desired effect and I didn't notice hunger wise. As your weight goes significantly down you don't need quite as much food. Portion size can be a habit rather than biological urge IMO.

Thank you capsium, no I don't have those scales, might get some though.
I will try reducing portions, thing is as well have had a bit of salty food past couple of days so I don't think that helped! I will carry on drinking pints of water and cut down on the salt.
Belly at the mo feels bloated so don't know if it is fat or the water, been like that for past couple of weeks since weather has been really hot.
