Welcome to the last week of our ten-week Low Carb Bootcamp. Don't forget to weigh-in and update the spreadsheet and let's focus on staying on track this week. Next Monday will be the last Bootcamp thread but, never fear, we all stick around and keep chatting away until it's time for the next Bootcamp around May.

I’m late to this. Will you be starting another next week?

@paperdolly , new Bootcamp usually sometime in May , all the rules are available if you look on the spread sheet , and we usually carry on a chat and can answer any questions
1lb off this week , but after a blow out at old friends on Saturday night I’m very pleased
Planning on being super strict this week as if I can lose 4lb , I’ll be in the 10stones and that would be so good !

Visit to elderly PILs over the weekend, always the most difficult challenge food wise. I do some of the cooking but MIL in her 90s always makes puddings and cakes.

So today:
B - eggs, mushroom, spinach
L - avocado salad
D - Thai vegetable stir fry

Running out of steam here. Did make delicious roast broccoli with halloumi as recommended by someone in the last thread

@shagmeriggins - why do carbs get a grip on me? Good question. I’m a bit nervous about bc ending because I basically lose and gain the same stone and have been doing that for eight years. I find the maintenance bit so incredibly difficult and that’s what I’m going to be really working on between now and May

Report
ShagMeRiggins · 16/03/2020 08:54

Alma why not just treat the interim period as Bootcamp anyway rather than thinking of it as maintenance? What is it you do in maintenance that causes a stone gain? I feel your frustration but if this has been going for 8 years then something needs to be done differently.

I’m 1lb down putting me at 175 for a 10lb loss this Bootcamp. I could do better but I’m happy. Thanks all for the support. Flowers

Morning all

I’m a lb down too so matching shagme for 10lbs to date.

alma, I’m going to need to hang around in between bootcamps. We’ve set in between boot camp goals before, could do that?

I find BC really restrictive. I would like chickpeas, or a pear and some yoghurt. So I need to find some balance between BCs I think.

I'm finally going down again! 17st 7lb this morning. Not my lowest, but heading in the right direction at last.

Haven't been on the bootcamp threads for weeks (lots going on). Since hitting target at Christmas bootcamp my weight has stayed exactly the same. Seems I can't gain weight at this point. It's really nice to just not worry about my weight or what I'm eating etc and just enjoy my food now. Looks like everyone is doing really well!

Can't seem to update the spreadsheet but I am back down to 126.1, lowest weight of LCBC. Overall my weight loss has been tiny but inching downwards so I'm really pleased.

I would be up for an inbetween BCs thread.

Almahart those aren't unhealthy foods to crave and, while carby, if you did eat chick peas they aren't going to send you off the rails like a sugary food might. If it's such a big problem that's making you find it difficult to stick to the woe then I suggest finding ways to mindfully include one or more of those foods. As a diet coach I would much rather you ate a pear every now and then, than gave up on low carb.

^^^ This. Yes.

Do you plan to stick around the interim thread? Maybe pop in with weekly weighing while experimenting with your maintenance phase? Loads of support here!

Athelstane for some reason I can’t tag you but I added weight for CheddarGorgeous to the spreadsheet and there appears to be something wrong with the calculations for weekly and overall loss, just FYI.

Thanks all. I need to find the balance and maintain eating more mindfully. I do really enjoy cooking and eating delicious food on bc so need to bring that into my between bc life

@Almahart for me doing maintenance means a really conscious choice about:
a) chickpeas OR a pear OR … whatever, not chickpeas and a pear and some yogurt
b) deciding how often in a week I might make those choices - is it chickpeas once a week, or a 'treat' every day, or some fruit at breakfast plus sweetcorn at lunchtime plus lentils for dinner?
c) thinking about what else I eat on the days when I might have more carbs
d) being vigilant about snacking and portion size, and alcohol
e) making really clear choices about my eating preferences
f) totally ignoring the occasional blow out (occasional being once or twice a year)

What (more or less) works for me is to have roughly one day a week when I eat 'healthy carbs'. So that might be some puy lentils with my spinach, or chickpeas in a curry, or an apple as a snack when I'm out on a walk.

On those days I tend to eat much less fat. I wouldn't have creamy, buttery scrambled eggs with crispy pancetta for breakfast, followed by lentil soup for lunch, and pork belly for dinner. I would deliberately eat lower fat foods for breakfast and dinner. Sometimes that would help me to make the choice that I'd prefer the eggs for breakfast and the pork belly for dinner, and I'd forgo the lentil soup.

I don't stick to a rigid day (i.e. not every Saturday) which gives me flexibility if I'm eating out or cooking for family/friends.

If I'm adding pulses to food, I add less than I used to. So a small can of kidney beans added to a chilli rather than a large can. (but again , once a week, not every day)

I do know that lack of attention to snacking can be a big problem for me - a few crisps, some cashew nuts, a couple of tortilla chips dipped in hummus , I recognise that as my weak point and develop my strategies around that.

Hiya losers - well I am down again 1.2lb this week, total loss now 17lb/7.7kgs

The spreadsheet is still not working for me (I've tried different browsers too) so please can someone update my weight?? Today's weight is 243.8lb

I'm very happy with this weight loss & WOE. You've got me all thinking in pounds now (I've always been a kilo's person), so I'm going to stick to 10lb goals post bootcamp.

I was away from home over the weekend, but I've not been too much of a carby twat, though I did have a lot of cava and some bloody hipster in a VEGAN COFFEE BAR (yes indeed) confirmed there was absolutely no sugar at all in their chai latte and of course it was sweet as and clearly bursting with sugar. it was delicious.

My water and veg intake is down (I can do meat and fat no problem) so I will focus on raising intake of both this week.

Whilst I do quite miss my weekend loaf of a good sourdough & lashings of butter, the thing I have missed eating the most over bootcamp (don't get me wrong I'm surviving very well without them) is ……. lentils, chickpeas etc.

Which I find very funny.

IBS has gone - no issues at all with that.

STS this week at 11st 1.25lb Smile - pleases with that given the whoosh I had last week plus I have a day's fuckit wobble last week Blush and ate a Lindt rabbit and some toffees left over from Christmas Blush Gathered myself together and am re fully committed Grin (problem was boredom one evening when I was in the house on my own Hmm)

I'd love to get under 11st by next week, but I'm happy anyway with my achievements this BootCamp as I've lost a stone since I started 10 weeks ago (started a week early).

124.2 this morning, so 5lbs overall this bootcamp. Lowest I've seen has been 122 a couple of weeks ago, but this last week I've been off plan a good few times.

Fridges and freezer rammed full of fantastic LCHF food so should be good for a while but would hate to see fresh veg become difficult to get hold of!

I also don't seem to be able to update the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Sad - but as I STS, it's no bog deal.
