Low-carb bootcamp

Pre-Christmas Bootcamp: final weigh-in and ongoing chat thread

Morning all.

So here, for the final time, is The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope that you've all enjoyed it, and have lost the weight that you wanted. Ten weeks doesn't seem very much until you actually start them! But I know that there have been some really good losses so it's great to see it working for you all.

But this isn't the end! (Unless you want it to be, of course). This chat thread will stay up, for everyone to keep posting, supporting and generally wittering on until January, when the lovely @StuntNun will be running the next Bootcamp.

Thank you all - I have very much enjoyed this Bootcamp and getting to 'know' you all Smile

Thanks so much BIWI, I have really appreciated your guidance and good example over this boot camp.
I am not near any scales because laid up with gastric flu at in laws house (all my worrying about eating carbs while here was futile as I’ve not been able to eat for days Sad )
Anyway, I have lost a stone (and maybe more but need to get on some scales) I’m beyond happy with this and very much see it as a woe rather than a diet.
The thing that’s really helped me is that my appetite has gone back to normal as in I stop when I’m full and eat when I’m hungry. This has literally never been the case for me I’ve always been a sugar addict and have also always eaten beyond fullness.
I have tried so many things over the years (binge/starve cycles, over exercising, restricting until light headed, juice diets and Overeaters Anonymous) none of these really worked they just made me even more pre occupied with food and then I beat myself up for that!

What I’m trying to say is that I have found this past 12 weeks very quietly has gone some great lengths to healing my unpeaceful relationship with food/ my body/ eating / sugar addiction so thank you so very much.

I haven’t added to the spreadsheet because I found my scales too hard to read accurately, my phone wouldn’t let me add them, I was very discouraged when I hit a 4 week weight loss stall and I found the focus on my weight was too triggering in terms of past ED thinking.

Anyway I’m over the moon that I feel/ look better, clothes are more comfy and Ive fallen in love with vegetables again (buttery ones!)

My three year old DD also keeps racing me with my big tanks of water and has picked up my love of green veg too!

Happy Sveltemass everyone, thanks for all your good ideas and encouragement, I hope you all have a great time and I will join again in January.

I'm going to go with the lowest weight of the week, 10 stone and 3/4s of a lb so ever so slightly over my goal weight, which was for the end of the year anyway.
Thankyou so much for this bootcamp, I've lost 11lbs the last 10 weeks, but 31lbs since the beginning of May bootcamp. Looking forward to relaxing over Christmas and then continuing this WOE in the new year.

I was 11st 7.5lb this morning - but don't think I had enough water yesterday as my rings were tight. If I drink enough today, I might manage to lose another weight 3/4lb by tomorrow Xmas Wink

Still, I've lost practically a stone this Boot Camp and that's not to be sneezed at Xmas Grin

Down 2lbs taking me to 180 (not quite the 70s, gah!) and 9lb loss this Bootcamp.

absopugginglutely I loved your post.

This Bootcamp has been a real pleasure, such a great group, lots of commitment, thanks to everyone who makes this work, especially BIWI, and please KOKO everyone.

BIWI I’m going to fire up the Bootcamp style tips day that fell into a sea of busy-ness over the summer. I still want to make this happen as a thank you for anyone interested, but will start with a Doodle Poll for those who’ve already provided emails. Important—as you’re swanning off to SA (have a marvellous time)—when is your general soonest availability? Because you must be there.

Feeling emotional in the right way. I haven’t felt or looked this good in years, and I’m still Obese! Grin

I can't believe that's the end of another Bootcamp; it was my 19th! Shock I wonder how many thousands of pounds of weight loss BIWI is responsible for? I've been maintaining a normal BMI for just over six years; I honestly don't know how big I would be by now if I hadn't started Bootcamping back in 2013 and received my fair share of whacks with the big stick! In that time I've had one low carb pregnancy, breastfed two babies while on a low carb diet, and become a low carb diet coach myself. BIWI I am forever in your debt. Thanks

Hi everyone!
Thank you @BIWI, and everyone else who contributed their knowledge and experience.
I hope everyone here who celebrates Christmas has a good Christmas, and if you don't, I hope you have a great couple or so weeks until the next bootcamp. 😊

I've done really well, especially when you consider that week I gained (and then lost) 4lbs! And the other one where I gained 3lbs and lost them...😱
I lost another lb today, which takes me to 1st, 4lbs loss. I'm soooooo happy with that. I feel a lot better in myself, my clothes look and feel better, and I'm determined not to spoil it all over Christmas.
I'll probably post sporadically here for now, but I'll be back in January.
Thank you again!

Hello all, lovely to see you again - apologies for being AWOL but had a horrid few weeks through November - dementia is SUCH a bastard.

Ended up triggering a bout of depression, my worst by miles since a huge breakdown three years ago, and it has seriously terrified me that being off meds and out of counselling might not be a way I can live. I know that's not really for this thread, but didn't want any of you who've given me so much support to think I'd given up.

In good news, have maintained my under 80kgs despite too much booze, and been away for a week of Christmas markets and not put on a ridiculous amount! My wonderful DP loves the low carb stuff, and wants to eat this way forever - yes, yes, yes!! Also, I've made a fabulous smelling ham today and now have 1.5litres of lovely stock for soups in the new year.

Really huge thanks to you all, this is such a grounding and beneficial part of my life now. Wishing you all a peaceful and joyful Christmas.

Well done everyone for making it through the many weeks of pre-Christmas temptation.

I'm spending Christmas in the land of apple strudel, black forest gateaux, and gluwein. So many things that are laden with sugar. Doing my best to fill up on roast goose and sauerkraut with minimal space left for the rest...

Thank you BIWI and have a wonderful time in SA.

Thank you all for all your thank yous! Smile

But as I always say, it's not me who did the hard work, it was you lot!

@ShagMeRiggins - thank you. Firing up the style day would be a wonderful thing, and I feel very guilty that I never got round to doing it - too much stuff going on, both practical and emotional, for a lot of us, I think.

@8Track sorry to hear of your woes, but 'yay!' to your DH!

Well done @prettybird Grin.

And many, many thanks to @StuntNun for your support throughout, as well as you volunteering to run next year's Bootcamp. Your knowledge is always welcome - as well as very often needed!

I'm looking forward to Christmas with just the four of us at home - DS1 is coming home and has 3 whole days off (he used to work in retail so for the last million years or so has always arrived late on Christmas Eve and then had to go back on Boxing Day, so this is a real treat.

There will be, I confess, roast potatoes, roast parsnips and Yorkshire puddings on my plate on Christmas Day, but that's the law, isn't it? Wink

I hope you all have a very, very merry Christmas. I know that this year hasn't been easy for a lot of us, but I'll raise a glass to you all tomorrow.

@venusandmars I don't like gluhwein, thankfully, but the others sound hugely tempting! Have a lovely holiday. I'm guessing it might be 'deep and crisp and even' where you're going, which would make it super Christmassy!

Really well done, @Twit and @TamingToddler! Look forward to catching up with your progress next year.

Although I'll be away, I will have my iPad with me, and the temptation to check in will not be resisted - although I'll leave The Big Stick in @StuntNun's hands ...

Hello BIWI, long time no speak!Smile. I'm kinda just marking a spot for now.

I've had a hellava bad year and I really, really need to do something about my weight in the new year, which might make my outlook slightly brighter! I keep telling myself I need to, but it's come to the point of must!

I need help and guidance and motivation, of which I have none!

Wishing you and everyone on this thread a Happy Christmas and look forward to getting to know you all in the New Year.Smile

Huge thanks from my end as well - 11lbs off this boot camp for me which I am over the moon about!

Will definitely be keeping on with this woe - I feel so much better and I've managed to get out of the habit of wanting an afternoon nap as well Blush have so much more energy and everything fits again (actually needing a belt on some of my bigger jeans now as well!)

Will be sensible over the next couple of weeks but have decided I'm not going to deny myself a little of what I fancy but will be joining again for the January boot camp, would like to drop another 10lbs or so which will put me at the weight I was on my wedding day many many moons ago.

Well done to everyone on their losses and wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and blessings for the New Year xx

Even after my blow out big Christmas Dinner last night, I'm only up 1/4lb (and I'm sure if I'd worked hard enough at it, I could have moved the scales often enough "lost" that extra 1/4lb Xmas Wink). Xmas Grin

Surprised myself by only eating half the roast potato that I allowed myself - even though they were the best I'd ever made! Xmas Grin pretty damn perfect even if I say so myself Xmas Wink Had a small amount of mashed parsnips with chopped chestnuts - and the rest of the main course was pretty HFLC (savoy cabbage with lardons, home baked ham, brined turkey and sausage meat stuffing). A wee bit of flour in the gravy (might try without next year) and some chopped apricots in the stuffing.

Starter was (home grown) tomato and mint soup.

The big "off piste" dish was the almond rice pudding - the Danish Christmas pudding (a sweet rice risotto with chopped almonds and whipped cream folded through it) but for once I won the Almond Prize (a Christmas mug) - for the person who finds the single whole almond. It wasn't won last year as someone must have eaten it Xmas Hmm - so I carefully put it into the top layer of the bowl. But ds then insisted on mixed it up some more Xmas Shock

Everyone thinks that sprouts give you wind.. I can eat sprouts all year on this woe, not a fart in sight (or sound). One small portion of black forest cherry cake, one slice of punoernickel and I'm like a horse!!

Some strange vibes got me here. I think my last bootcamp was the one @StuntNun mentioned. 2013??? Would that really be? I'm somehow hovering around the same weight since then 94-97kg (6ft tall) despite of having a child 2 in 2014. Low carbing ever since but recently i got me in the tangle of overtraining, undereating then overeating again. On the mission to tidy that s@it up I think i better join the January bootcamp. So good to see my old (imaginary😉) friends

Bless me BIWI, for I have been a Carby Twat over Christmas. About the only thing I can say in mitigation is that I've only had small amounts of all the traditional festive carbs, and I kept up with my water.

Will weigh myself tomorrow to assess the damage, and then get back on it. Blush
