I thought it would be helpful to have a thread showing other low carbers/Bootcampers some low carb products that you've found. Photos, so we can spot them when we go shopping - but also photos of the nutritional data so we know how many carbs per serving they contain.

I've got two that I'm going to start the thread with, firstly Bare Naked noodles. These are made from konjac flour, and have been part of Japanese cuisine for many years. They're a brilliant replacement for noodles in stir fries or soups - and can be used instead of spaghetti (although not quite as successfully!). But they are very, very low in carbs (and calories) so can be a really useful thing to have in your cupboard. They aren't cheap though, at around £2 a pack (which will serve 2), so probably best if you're using them to make everyone else who's eating ordinary noodles/pasta!

The other thing to beware of is that when you open the packet (they're in water) they smell fishy. Rinse them well in fresh water, and that will deal with that - they really don't taste fishy.

The second product is one I found in Aldi yesterday - but I haven't tried this yet, so can't vouch for how good it is. But the reason I'm posting this is because it's a ready meal. it's surprisingly hard to find a ready meal that's low in carbs - often because they all come with pasta or rice or potatoes!

This one is part of their Slimwell range, and is in the freezer. One thing to beware of is that this is a low fat product - so you might want to have it with a dollop of full fat natural yoghurt (or even just add some coconut oil to it!).

Being from Aldi, it's also really good value at only £2.

Swede is an excellent substitute for mashed potatoes including on shepherds pie, but I CBA to peel, chop and cook it, so this product, which is just swede, butter, salt & pepper is brilliant and you can freeze it so you've always got some available too.

Kikkoman soy sauce.

lots of bought soysauce is surprisingly high in carbs. this is one of the better ones.

The same brand does a gluten free one too as this one gives me a reaction to wheat!

Can we recommend good low carb convenience food?

I found this at Itsu, it says 8g carbs but that is mostly the sauce so i only use a portion of that.

its delicious and one of the better uses of konju noodles. there is a cooked chicken version too. works well if you are missing sushi!

For anyone who, like me isnt a fan of tea or coffee.

I have been using these cold infusions. basically like fruity tea but in cold water. they do suffer from the issue of smelling great and not tasting of much but might add another string to your bow.

Oh good idea @iamnotacerealkiller!

Two salads from Pret that I'll add - unfortunately can't find photos, but here are the links:

Crayfish and avocado . This one is 4.2g carbs for the whole thing

Italian chicken . This is a bit higher at 10.9g carbs, but it's very tasty and a really generous salad.

Tuna Nicoise salad 7.3g for the lot

<a class="break-all" href="//Awww.pret.co.uk/en-gb/1520-soups-%27no-cream%27-cream-of-chicken-soup.aspx" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank"> And this soup is really lovely . 8.1g carbs and it's really filling.

@ BIWI

I havn't been to pret for ages (used to work there in my student days) do they not still rotate the salads or are those available all the time? or maybe it depends on the shop?

I'm fairly sure that the first two are available all the time. The soup is only available on certain days of the week though.

Aldi Cauli Rice. I KNOW you can make your own and the packaging is wasteful, but I always seem to end up with cauliflower bits everywhere when I do my own. I've never steamed it though, I just stir in a frying pan in butter and/or coconut oil. Fills the convenience gap left when you give up pasta/rice/cous cous etc. Great with curries, tagines and makes a nice kedgeree but I wouldn't dream of putting it on the side of something that wasn't sauce-based; happy with an assortment of regular veg on the side of grilled/fried meat or fish and I don't think it's a helpful mind-set to think you need a dollop of carbs/substitute on the plate.

Aldi halloumi fries. They aren't strictly low carb at 9.5% carbs as they're breaded but half a pack is less than 5g carbs and they hit the spot when you want an indulgent snack. I dip them in sour cream mixed with chives.

Frozen. They take 8-10 minutes in the oven.

M&S chicken pakoras. Even if you have the whole pack, it’s still only 2.2 gms. When I started low carb and still needed to snack a bit, two pieces with a sour cream dip felt very luxurious and filling. Now I keep a couple of packs in the freezer for emergency meals.
