Low-carb bootcamp

Week 9 - Low Carb Bootcamp - the finish line is in sight!

Morning Campers Flowers

As ever, here's the spreadsheet for all your confessions

Some interesting conversations last week, as well as some encouraging losses and NSVs. Glosses over all talk of poppadoms

I'm so pleased it's working so well for so many of you, but more particularly how well this WOE seems to be working in its broader, longer term sense. That's actually the critical thing for the future - finding a way to incorporate the low carb principles into how you eat for the rest of your life, while still having a life!

A difficult couple of days for me, as I'm off to Paris with work, so my meals are largely out of my control. Dinner at the hotel should be OK, but I have no idea what will happen at lunch time, as I'm stuck in a research facility, being catered for. And worse, Eurostar is on strike tomorrow, when I'm supposed to be coming home, so I have no idea if I'm in Paris for two or three days!!!!

Anyway, there are worse places to be stuck, I suppose Smile

Here's to a good week for us all - hope it's not too cold and windy wherever you are.

I'm claiming a 1.2lb loss using Fridays weight Grin Today's weight is influenced by cauliflower cheese!!

I'm off to Germany today til Thursday. So in a similar boat to BIWI. (Although definitely flying not going by boat!) AND no scales for my daily weighing habit. AND I can't take enough Diet Coke with me!! Oh the panic!!

Morning all! Just London for me for a few days, so should be doable.

1lb up this week (quite right; glutton that I am).

Good luck low-carbing in Germany @BrassicaBabe...not the easiest task!

Stupidly , I’ve gained this week
Entirely my own fault ( wine , dessert and then a bit more wine 🙁)
No social things planned now , until the weekend after next when DS and his GF come to stay with us
I need to go back on Bootcamp Strict , I need willpower !
Hope everyone else has better results than me

It would appear my reset experiment has worked and am logging a 5lb loss this week. Definitely worth it for me.

Total loss to date is 16lb and only 1lb more to go until I am officially out of the obese category and into 'overweight'. That's the goal for the week ahead.

Am feeling more like I did at the beginning of bootcamp - positive and optimistic.

Good luck to everyone this week.

BTW the column on the spreadsheet showing weekly loss is not right. Sorry don't know who does the technical stuff.

I’m up an lb this week, I can see exactly where it came from and I have no one to blame but myself. Anyway, onwards and downwards!

only 1/2 a pound down but we had a surprise guest last night that i hadnt planned for so ended up getting an indian in. My local has aubergine bahjis to die for, that combined with couliflour bahji and a meaty vegetable thing was probably more then i would have had otherwise in terms of mass. I even saved half of it that i have just eaten for breakfast :)

I have been tasting my LO milk recently to test the temperature and have found it really really sweet, and its whole milk too! i have pretty much given up milk otherwise which i think has been working for me in the weight loss department.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 11/03/2019 08:55

all the food is dripping with fat too mmmmmm

Does anyone know if most indian restaurants mostly still use proper ghee as fat in their cooking or have they changed to a... hem hem 'healthier' oil like vegetable oil? my place is considered one of the better places so i hope they do. would explain the deliciousness!

Since I moved house I can't find a spot where my scales consistently measure the same so I've given up on weighing and actually I'm enjoying not knowing. I've maintained a normal BMI since I started Bootcamp back in 2013 (apart from when I was pregnant lol) so I probably don't need to
keep weighing any more. Now that's a NSV!

Fast800 (low carb) and intermittent fasting 18:6
Not entirely in the spirit of bootcamp but I really really needed a big push as I was on the verge of giving up after a couple of not great weeks. I think I was overeating portion wise and relying too much on cheese.
I feel ready to crack on now knowing that I can cope perfectly well without the mega cheese and double dinner portions.

Slinky that is an amazing loss. I think I might give it a go too.

I am 1 pound down and that is really over 2 weeks but better than nothing and I don't regret the few glasses of rosé in the sunshine when I was away. I see myself continuing boot camping for a long time so its just koko for me now.

Well done all the other losses and koko everyone!

2lb down, which is good after sts last week. Clothes are definitely a wee bit looser.

no idea about food today, which is unusual for me. It will include avocado, egg, and buttery cabbage, but need a shopping trip for the rest. Maybe tuna?

I'm off to London for three days this week (not as exotic as Paris or Germany, but still exciting for a wee Scot's lass) so have similar issues about being a bit out of control of my eating, especially since one night the suggestion is a Chinese (Michelin star Chinese, but still lots of rice, dumpling, and sweet sauces on the menu). I'll just have to avoid the obvious suspects and eat what I can. And fill up on eggs, avocado and bacon at breakfast.

Slinky, amazing progress, well done!!! [glowers]
(have fixed the spreadsheet)

Stayed the same for me, which is very lucky since I lost the plot hugely after dinner last night with brandy and dates. Blush Hope it doesn't show up tomorrow instead, but here's to a virtuous week ahead, containing lots of chicken alfredo...

@SlinkyDinkyDoo (bows)

Could you give us a rundown of what you ate during last week to help us mere mortals if we choose to have a go? :)

My exciting news is that I have only just squeaked into the 14s...whoop whoop! 2.1lbs off this morning taking me to 14st 13.9lbs. Sounds a lot better than 18st 10lbs doesn't it?!

So 52lbs off altogether (15.9lbs on this BC) and 79.8lbs left to lose.

I'm really interested in all the talk about finding a long term woe. That's my plan for when I've lost it all too. I want to try to stick generally to this woe, with just the odd treat on a special occasion. I'm thinking about this more and more as the weight comes off. I can't bear the thought of losing it and piling it back on like I've done so many times before.

I am so grateful to @BIWI and the rest of you for keeping me on track. I'm feeling so much better about myself already. I'm at the gym most days now and I actually look forward to wearing different outfits now instead of dreading it. It's not a case of if I'm going to lose all my weight, it's a case of when!

Stayed the same but after yesterday I'm not surprised and expect to drop down 1lb by Wednesday if I stick to plan the next 2 days.

As I'm planning this as a long term woe I'm not too concerned re the occasional binge. Still on track for my target for 31 March (my birthday).

My scales drive me crazy, but I'm going for a number that is seen most often, giving me a 2lb loss. Is that cheating?? Ah well. My clothes are getting looser and looser each week so one of those numbers must be right.

Well done Slinky I would like to try your method too
venus if you could find a buffet Chinese that might help. We went to a beautiful one in France
toots in the 14s bloody amazing
StuntNun I’m in two minds re poppadums but bday is a month away. Part of me thinks it’ll just make me want them more if I do have them once.
I’m waiting for TOM before weighing but NSV I just found a top I bought in 2012 and it was quickly put away because I put on 2st (stressful job) then became pregnant...anyway it is now too big!!

MiniCooperLover · 11/03/2019 11:58

2lb down for me this week so 6lb in two weeks which is great. 2lb more takes me to 13st something which I'm pleased about but have 4 days in France this week skiing so I'm going to have to try and stick with fondues and steak (though I like my steak well done and I think chefs over there might get offended by that).

2lbs down this week. No alcohol. Really want/need a big push these next two weeks as I haven’t made the most of this bootcamp. Might try cheese reduction (my portions are absolutely fine) or even IF.

16:8 sounds challenging, slinky!

Huge well done to all of you posting amazing losses and progress and NSVs and simply KOKO. toots, I have a slight pash on you. Wink

Well done tootstastic I jump between weighing in kg and stones / pounds to get the next achievement.

I'm not massively overweight (not now that I've lost 2 stone in 2018) but for me it is about my high blood pressure. But we all have the aim - to live healthily and happily for a long, long time, and to find a way of eating that makes that possible and sustainable, and which feels fulfilling and nutritious.

Interesting about 'treats'. I'm lucky in that I don't have a particularly sweet tooth - but I've noticed how my mindset has changed... when at MIL's recently (she's 89) she served home-made sticky toffee pudding, and rather than think "oh good, what a treat", I thought of it as something to be enjoyed, yet endured, and, over the next couple of days, to be recovered from.

The 'honey once a year' approach of our ancient ancestors.

That's my mantra

0.5lb down which is very nice considering a fairly louche weekend.

And suddenly feel tummy is flatter and stronger. It’s really motivating.

Good work all of you! X
