Low-carb bootcamp

Wholewheat couscous?

Is wholewheat couscous a total disaster on a low-carb diet? Waitrose’s version has 28.7g of carbohydrate per 100g.
I’m soooo bored with cauliflower rice!

On HFLC Boot Camp, yes - it is indeed a total disaster. Shock

Alternatives to cauliflower rice are celeriac rice, Naked noodles (which are low carb - but make sure to rinse them well before cooking), spiral used or ribbons of courgettes. Or just stop trying to "substitute" carbs and just have a FLGV instead (a Fuck Load of Green/Good Veg) - salads, avocado, brussels in butter, asparagus in butter, runner beans in butter, mashed or roasted neeps, mashed or roasted celeriac (with plenty of oil/butter Wink), kale.....

Instead of cauliflower rice, try roasted cauliflower. Cut into florets, drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle over a spice blend to match your main dish, toss around and bake for around 20 - 25 mins till it's beginning to go slightly brown.

Thank you! We generally go down the FLGV route rather than try to fake carbs but I really wanted something couscous-y to go with my chicken tagine. I love the sound of roasted cauliflower - I’ll try it tomorrow with my sausages instead of the cauli mash I usually do.

Are Naked noodles the ones made from fish protein or the konjac ones? Are they really bearable?

The BareNaked noodles are made from Konjac flour - so maybe it's not necessary to rinse them as I've been doing

Dh and ds haven't even noticed the difference when I've made stir fries with them. Plenty of (low carb) soy sauce and garlic in with it and finished off with extra sesame oil.

Thanks - I’ll give them a try.
